Publication Process

Below are the general principles governing the operation of the journal’s publication process. For detailed provisions regarding these principles, please refer to the Ethics Principles and Publication Policy section.

- The manuscript submission process is transparent through the Dergipark system. Authors are automatically informed about each step of the publication process.

-The Field Editors generally evaluate the articles submitted to the journal in terms of quality, content and contribution to the field and decide whether the article should enter the publication process or not. At this stage, the article may be rejected without entering the process. Editorial decisions are made independently by the Editors based solely on academic merit.

- The Deputy Editors check that article files are complete and that articles conform to the journal's spelling rules, and ensure that authors make the necessary arrangements.

- The Deputy Editors forward articles that have been through the preliminary review process to the appropriate Field Editor for refereeing.
- Manuscripts are sent for double-blind anonymous peer review by the editors.

– Reviewers are selected in accordance with the subject matter of the manuscript. It is essential that reviewers have conducted research in the relevant field or possess demonstrated expertise in the subject area. Where the authors are academics, reviewers should, where possible, be selected from among scholars holding a higher academic rank.

– Reviewers and authors must not be affiliated with the same institution, and it is essential that no conflicts of interest exist between them.

- Reviewers are given (10) days to respond to the review invitation sent via the DergiPark system by email, which includes the manuscript abstract as an attachment. Where necessary, this period may be extended twice for an additional (5) days each. If a reviewer does not accept or decline the invitation within the specified period, the Field Editor may cancel the invitation through the system and invite another reviewer.

- Reviewers are given a period of (30) + (10) days to complete their evaluation from the date on which they accept the review invitation. These periods may be extended if deemed necessary.

- For manuscripts to be accepted for publication, at least two referees must consider them suitable for publication.
  • If reviewers request minor or major revisions to the manuscript, the author is asked to revise the manuscript in line with the reviewers’ comments.
  • In the case of minor revision, the revised manuscript is reviewed by the relevant Deputy Editor.
  • In the case of major revision, the revised manuscript is resubmitted to the same reviewer, who is asked to decide whether the revised version is suitable for publication.
  • Manuscripts that are deemed not suitable for publication by both reviewers are not published.
  • Where both reviewers recommend major revision, the Editorial Board may decide to reject the manuscript after considering the reviewers’ comments.
  • If one reviewer recommends rejection, the Editorial Board may either reject the manuscript or send it to a third reviewer, taking into account the comments of the other reviewer.
  • In cases where the reviewers’ reports lack sufficient scientific evaluation, the Field Editor may refer the manuscript to a third reviewer, even if a positive recommendation has been given.
– Manuscripts deemed suitable for publication are forwarded to the Language Editor for language review. After the author has implemented the revisions suggested by the Language Editor, and once these revisions are approved by the Language Editor, the manuscript is accepted and assigned to the Publishing Editor.

– As a general rule, manuscripts for which the editorial process has been completed and which have been accepted are published in the subsequent issue. However, the Editorial Board may decide to schedule certain manuscripts for a later issue, taking into account the number of manuscripts or their subject matter.

The Publishing Editor works in cooperation with the author to prepare the manuscript for typesetting, and authors are expected to provide the necessary support to the Publishing Editor during this stage.

– Within (5) days following publication, changes to the manuscript files may be requested. In this context, authors may contact the Publishing Editor; however, the acceptance of requests to correct formatting-related errors attributable to the author is at the discretion of the Publishing Editor.
