Institutions, powers, event sand people who are disrupted in societies are often criticized through humor. Humor is a type of art that reveals the ridiculous aspects of life. The elements of humor that ween counter in genres such as stories, novels, poems, comedy, and jokes can be published for the purpose of laughing as well as to explain certain ideas to the reader. The use of humor has also become widespread in Turkish literature since literary genre shave varied since the Tanzimat Period. As the literary genres increased, the types of humor began to differ and divide into different branches. Orhan Kemal's novel Murtaza appears as one of the most prominent examples of humor since it reflects the critique of authority and the tragicomic state of spiritual fragmentation after the Second World War. Orhan Kemal, the prominent name of socialist realistic literature, works in many of his works in his works in contrast to his rich and poor counterparts. While giving this contrast with a critical view, he often uses humor elements. Murtaza is an in consistent type in many ways. It is an exemplary person of contradictions in the human psyche, social injustice and the concept of authority. It is possible to watch the effect of Murtaza, who sees herself with authority, in the novel. He tries to give the change process of the society over Orhan Kemal Murtaza's background to revolt against the authority. His diseased relationships reveal the social structure. Orhan Kemal shares this with the reader using humor elements. The purpose of this study is to reach an inference by examining the novel Murtaza in terms of humor.
