Ethics Committee Approval

Upon the change in the journal evaluation criteria for 2020, the ULAKBIM TR INDEX Committee requires that Ethics Committee Approval be obtained for research in all disciplines, including social sciences, and that this approval must be stated and documented in the article.

Upon this change in Article 8 within the scope of TR INDEX Evaluation Criteria, it is now mandatory to include the information about the permission (ethics committee name, date and number of the ethics committee) in the method section of the article and also on the first/last page of the article for studies that require ethics committee approval, the process of which started in 2020. Accordingly, the following articles will be sent to our journal for publication in the following process;

(1) In all research conducted with qualitative or quantitative approaches that require data collection from participants using survey, interview, focus group study, observation, experiment, interview techniques

(2) In research in which humans and animals (including materials/data) are used for experimental or other scientific purposes

(3) In clinical trials on humans, information about the ethics committee should be included in the relevant sections of retrospective studies and research and publication ethics should be complied with.

• In case reports to be submitted other than research articles;

(1) indicating that the informed consent form has been obtained

(2) obtaining and indicating permission from the owners for the use of scales, questionnaires, photographs belonging to others; and

(3) for the intellectual and artistic works used, it must be stated that copyright regulations are complied with.

• Ethics Committee Approval will not be requested for review articles.

For the articles that are currently in process in our journal and have Ethics Committee Approval, the responsible authors are required to add the information regarding the Ethics Committee Approval to their work as stated above after the evaluation process is completed and it is finalized to be published. Besides this, retrospective ethics committee approval is not required for articles whose research data before 2020 were used, produced from master's/doctoral studies (must be specified in the article), applied for publication to the journal in the previous year, accepted but not yet published. However, after the article is accepted for publication, the responsible author must sign the article on the last page of the article by adding a statement such as "I undertake that AKIF journal has no responsibility for any ethical violations to be encountered in the study titled ...... and that all responsibility belongs to the Responsible Author." Our non-university researchers are also required to apply to the Ethics Committees in their regions for their research that require ethics committee approval and obtain Ethics Committee Approval.
