Preliminary Review Process
The Editorial Board of Akif journal pre-review the manuscripts submitted for evaluation and in the preliminary review process;
Works that do not comply with the journal's
writing rules and
template are not evaluated and returned to the author(s) within a maximum of 15 days for reorganization. In this direction, for the manuscripts to be prepared in accordance with the journal's
writing rules, the writing rules should be examined in advance and the sample template file should be used.
Authors of book reviews should have at least a PhD degree.
Articles that are appropriate in terms of spelling and format are then checked for plagiarism. At AKIF, plagiarism checking is carried out through the iThenticate package program. Although it is stated in the literature that a similarity rate of 10-30% is acceptable in scientific studies, 30% is considered a high rate (Shafer, 2011). The maximum similarity rate for orijinal articles accepted as 15%, while the maximum similarity rate for research articles derived from theses is accepted as 40% in the journal. In this process, the matches of each study that emerge through the software are examined in depth and the matches with correct references and citations are extracted. The remaining matches are examined, and errors are detected and reported to the Editorial Board. After the Editorial Board makes its final decision about each study in the light of the plagiarism check report, it shares this report and decision with the author(s) when necessary (See Preliminary Review and Plagiarism Checking Form). The errors in the report may be requested to be corrected by the author(s) or the study may be returned to the authors.
Preliminary Evaluation Process
Manuscripts that comply with the journal's publishing and writing rules and the similarity rate are included in the editorial pre-evaluation. In this process, the introduction, method, findings and discussion sections of the articles are evaluated by the editorial team in terms of the scope and objectives of the journal as well as compliance with the research reporting processes (See
The Editorial Board Review Form). As a result of the preliminary evaluation, articles that are found to be inappropriate, inaccurate, or unoriginal in terms of the journal's publication and
writing rules and
scope are rejected without being accepted for peer review.
In preliminary evaluation process:
• The plagiarism report for the articles is generated by the Assistant Editor and uploaded to the system. The similarity rate of this report is reviewed and approved by the editor.
• It is checked whether the article proposal is organized according to the journal writing guide.
• The suitability of the article proposal to the scope and subject areas of the journal is evaluated.
• The conformity of the citations and references in the article proposal to
ISNAD Citation Style is evaluated.
Evaluation Process
The manuscripts that pass the preliminary evaluation stage are forwarded to 2 referees who are experts in the field to be determined by the editors or field editors according to the nature of the study. The referees notify the editorial board whether they can evaluate the study within 15 days after the article is sent to them at the latest. If the referee does not notify within the specified period, a new referee is assigned to the study.
The time given to the referees for the referee evaluation process is 15 days. Reviewers can decide on the appropriateness of a manuscript by reviewing the corrections, or they can request corrections more than once if necessary. When the referees request corrections, the authors make the corrections within 15 days and submit their work to the journal via the same system. The corrected manuscript is re-evaluated by the referees who request changes or corrections when necessary. The Editorial Board decides on the publication of the studies in line with the referee opinions received. In case of inconsistency in the referees' opinions, the Editorial Board may send the manuscript to a different referee if deemed necessary.
Referee Reports
Referee evaluations are generally based on the originality, methodology, compliance with ethical rules, consistent presentation of findings and results, and literature review. Reviewers evaluate the manuscripts using the online "The Manuscript Peer Review Form" (See
The Manuscript Peer Review Form,
Translated Article Peer Review Form,
Book Review Checking Form). In addition, if they deem it necessary, the reviewers can also send notes to the editorial board indicating their suggestions and opinions on the full text.
Referees can express their opinions on the manuscripts in 4 ways:
• Accept
• Minor revision
• Major revision
• Reject
Evaluation Result
The comments received from the referees are reviewed by the editor(s) within 15 days at the latest. As a result of this review, the final decision is sent to the author(s).
Appealing the Review Result
The author(s) of Akif journal reserves the right to object to the evaluation results. The author(s) should send an e-mail to akifdergisi@erbakan.edu.tr about the opinions and comments within the scope of the evaluation results within 15 days after the decision is sent to them and upload it to the system from the DergiPark system. The editorial board reviews the objections within one month at the latest. A referee who is an expert in the field is appointed for the objections made by the author(s). The referee first reviews the manuscript and then makes a final evaluation together with the opinions of the other referees, and the result is notified to the author(s).
Early View
Articles accepted for publication are published in early view in the order of acceptance date. During the early view, authors must review their articles and notify the editorial board of their suggestions for corrections in terms of journal writing rules and layout. No changes can be made to the articles after the journal is published.
