Articles must be written in accordance with the Amasya Theology Journal Template.
Processes
Dear Authors,
The Amasya Journal of Theology, which is published twice a year, accepts manuscript submissions between January 1 and April 1 for the June issue, and between June 1 and September 1 for the December issue.
Manuscripts that meet our publication requirements are assigned a DOI upon completion of the evaluation process and are made available in early view.
Publication Process
All submitted manuscripts are automatically subjected to a plagiarism check. To initiate the review process, the similarity rate must be below 20%.
After an editor is assigned, the manuscript is reviewed for compliance with the Author Guidelines. If the manuscript fails to meet the requirements, it will be returned to the author with an explanation of the specific issue.
Manuscripts containing spelling or punctuation errors in the main text or footnotes, or that include stylistic flaws or incoherent expressions, may be rejected without a request for revision. Authors are responsible for ensuring their manuscripts are error-free upon initial submission.
However, the editor may send a one-time correction request to the author. If the revised version does not adequately address the required changes throughout the manuscript, the submission will be rejected.
Manuscripts that pass the preliminary review will be returned to the author to be formatted using the journal’s template.
Submissions that meet the formatting and stylistic criteria proceed to internal review, where the editorial board assesses whether the manuscript fulfills the journal’s requirements.
Manuscripts deemed suitable for evaluation may be forwarded to an English language editor when necessary.
After language editing, the manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review. At least two experts in the relevant field are assigned to review the work anonymously.
Based on the reviewers' feedback, the manuscript may be accepted, returned for revision, or rejected.
Review outcomes may include: accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject.
If one reviewer recommends acceptance or minor revision, and the other recommends rejection, the manuscript is either sent to a third reviewer or decided upon by the editor.
If one reviewer recommends acceptance or minor revision, and the other major revision, the editor may accept or reject the manuscript.
If both reviewers suggest major revision, the editor may reject the manuscript.
If both recommend minor revisions, the editor may accept the manuscript.
Accepted manuscripts are returned to the author for final revisions, including removing reviewer comments and formatting the manuscript as the final version.
At this stage, the author is required to enter bibliography data into the Dergipark system and ensure that the abstract and keywords in the manuscript match those in the system metadata.
Once finalized, the manuscript is sent to the typesetting editor to insert issue and volume information.
The typeset manuscript is prepared for publication by adding the cover and other necessary information and is then forwarded for final proofreading.
Upon approval by the final proofreader, the manuscript is assigned a DOI, published in early view, and queued for assignment to a future issue.
Assignment to an Issue
The described publication process may become more complex in cases such as additional reviewer requests or multiple rounds of revisions.
The average manuscript acceptance period, excluding publication, is approximately 75 days, consisting of:
30 days for preliminary review,
45 days for peer review,
20 days for the publication process.
Once the process is completed, a DOI is assigned immediately and the article is made accessible in early view. However, assignment to a specific issue depends on available space in upcoming issues.
A maximum of three research articles per main discipline can be published in each issue. If submissions exceed this quota, additional accepted manuscripts are either held for the next issue or returned to the author.
Important Notes for Authors
Manuscripts are subject to the rigorous processes mentioned above only if they meet the criteria stated in our Author Guidelines.
Since our editorial work is voluntary, we do not provide services such as proofreading or typesetting.
Authors are expected to make the necessary corrections themselves.

Manuscript Rejection or Withdrawal
Rejection
What does “manuscript rejected” mean?
Editors have the right to reject manuscripts that are not in accordance with the journal’s scope. For example, if the manuscript does not align with the journal’s thematic focus, it may be returned to the author along with a justification. Authors will receive an email notification and may submit the manuscript to another journal. Rejected manuscripts may be reinstated by the editor within one week.
Withdrawal
Authors can withdraw their manuscripts. For example, if an author realizes they have submitted to the wrong journal, they may withdraw the article.
If the journal allows withdrawals, the process can be completed directly. Otherwise, a formal request must be submitted to the editorial board.
Rejected manuscripts will be listed under “Rejected” in the editor’s and author’s panel.
Withdrawn manuscripts will be listed under “Withdrawn”.
Only the author and editorial board can see the status of a rejected or withdrawn manuscript; it is not visible to other journals, editors, or users.
