Special issues are published in Anatolia: Journal of Tourism Research to enable the in-depth examination of specific topics. These special issues are prepared under the editorship of an expert in the relevant field.

The special issue editor determines the theme of the special issue and the content of the related announcement. The editor also assesses the suitability of submitted manuscripts for the theme of the special issue; manuscripts that are appropriate are accepted for further consideration, while those that are not are rejected. After this initial stage, the special issue editor informs the journal’s editorial team of the manuscripts deemed suitable for inclusion in the special issue. Authors whose manuscripts are accepted for consideration are notified by letter that they are required to upload their papers to the journal’s page on DergiPark.

Following this stage, the peer-review process for the manuscripts is conducted by the journal’s editorial team. Based on the peer-review results, the final decision regarding suitability for publication (acceptance or rejection) is made jointly by the journal editor and the special issue editor.
