ACADEMIC VIEW OF THE INDUSTRY 4.0

Year 2019, Volume: 33 Issue: 4, 1065 - 1081, 25.10.2019

Abstract

Industry 4.0 is a study to regain the competitive
advantage that is being gradually lost due to the aging population and the
decreasing labour force in Germany. For the first time, this term was used in
2011 at the Hannover Trade Fair and its contents were announced at this fair.
It is aimed to provide maximum output with less energy, raw material, and
labour consumption. Robots, machines, sensors, and software are the main
elements for this purpose. While the importance of labour decreased with these
new developments, on the other hand, artificial intelligence, robotic
technology, and software have started to become more important. The fact that
man is not involved in the production is considered as a revolution and it is
thought that this revolution will deeply affect our country as it is in all
countries of the world, as in the previous industrial revolutions. In order to
be prepared for these effects and to take the necessary measures, it is
important for our society to know what the subject really means, how well it is
known and what stage we are at. In this context, the study is discussed to
reveal the issues that are expressed. In this context, data were collected from
semi-structured interview technique from the academic staff of Kafkas
University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of
Business Administration and Faculty of Engineering. According to the results,
it was determined that academicians give an importance to Industry 4.0
and see this program as a necessity for enterprises.

ENDÜSTRİ 4.0’A AKADEMİK BAKIŞ

Year 2019, Volume: 33 Issue: 4, 1065 - 1081, 25.10.2019
