Open Access Policy

Bartın University Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences has begun publishing all academic articles under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license.

The journal is open access, and all of its content is made available free of charge to readers or the institutions to which they belong. Readers may read, download, copy, search, and link to the full text of journal articles without permission from the publisher or author, provided it is not for commercial purposes. This is consistent with the BOAI definition of open access. Our journal has signed the Budapest Open Access Initiative.

BOAI:

“Open Access” is a term that encompasses everything, including both Free and Libre Open Access. More than 20 years ago, Open Access meant content provided free of charge without any additional fees. This type of Open Access is now referred to as Free Open Access. As the concept of Open Access gained broader acceptance over time, there was a need for greater clarity regarding what users are permitted to do with the content. This meant that users’ rights needed to be explicitly stated. This type of Open Access has no price barrier and removes at least some permission barriers. It is known as Libre Open Access. Different levels of reuse permissions exist—such as commercial use, creating translations, etc. (as specified in the six different Creative Commons licenses)—and there are also various types of Libre Open Access (https://blog.doaj.org/2020/11/17/what-does-doaj-define-as-open-access/).

The publisher believes that for Open Access to function effectively, user rights and copyright ownership must be clearly defined through licensing.

By submitting their work to the journal under the CC BY-NC license, authors are deemed to have accepted the following terms:
1. The copyright of the published article belongs to the author.
2. Authors grant this Journal the right to publish the article and to identify itself as the original publisher.
3. Authors grant any third party the right to freely use the article, provided that the original authors and citation details are properly attributed.
4. Nothing in this license shall impair or restrict an author’s right to protect the integrity and ownership of their work.
5. All commercial rights related to the article belong to the authors.

The Journal’s open-access articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license.
The Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license permits the sharing, copying, and reproduction of the work in any format and for any purpose other than commercial use, as well as adaptation—including remixing, transforming, and building upon the work—provided that appropriate credit is given to the original work.
