Article Evaluation and Publication Process

Articles published by CAKUJTS will pass through a three-stage process: Preliminary Review, Scientific Evaluation, and Preparation for Publication.

Preliminary Review Process

Scientific studies submitted to CAKUJTS for publication are reviewed during the preliminary review period to ensure they comply with the publication policy. Articles that comply with the journal's publication and writing policy and are original are referred to the field editor by the editor. In this section, authors must comply with the journal's writing rules, upload the ethics committee report and similarity report, keep author information confidential, and upload the publication rights form to Dergipark. Articles checked by plagiarism detection software are also reviewed again by the editor. Submissions that do not comply with the journal's policy may be returned to the author, requested to be revised, or rejected.

Scientific Review Process

The scientific review process is initiated for articles that have passed the preliminary review. This stage includes field editor review, peer review, author revision, and final proofreading.

Field Editor Review

The field editor evaluates whether the work submitted to the journal is in accordance with the journal's policies, aim, and scope.  The field editor reviews the similarity report, copyright form, and ethics committee statement. Issues identified during the field editor review are compiled into a report and submitted to the editor. For articles accepted for publication, two reviewers are assigned with the approval of the editor and field editor. The field editor must be careful to keep the author information in the submitted work confidential. Articles that receive a reviewer's positive assessment are forwarded to the editor by the field editor. If one reviewer report is positive and the other is negative, the field editor must assign a third reviewer.

Double-Blind Peer Review

Reviewers must adhere to the principles of confidentiality and impartiality in accordance with the blind review process.  Reviewers must respond to the editor within 10 days regarding whether they can evaluate the manuscript for which they have received a review invitation. Evaluations must be completed within 15 days. Reviewers should not evaluate manuscripts outside their field of expertise. They should only reviewer manuscripts that are within their field of expertise. Reviewers should evaluate articles objectively, scientifically, and impartially, adhering to the principle of objectivity, and should act in accordance with the rules of courtesy, refraining from expressing non-scientific personal opinions and unfair statements. One of the responsibilities of reviewers is to inform the journal editor if they detect any instances of plagiarism, copyright infringement, conflict of interest, or collusion on the part of the author(s).

Author Revisions

Authors are responsible for correcting any deficiencies identified by the reviewers. By submitting their work to the journal, authors transfer and grant the journal the original publication rights to their articles. Authors may not claim any royalties for their articles. Authors are responsible for ensuring that the articles they submit to the journal for publication are formatted in accordance with the journal's writing and publication rules and for uploading the article template-formatted version to the system. If authors discover a scientific error in their article published in the journal, they must promptly contact the editor regarding the correction of errors in the article or the withdrawal of the article. If there is an objection to the peer review process, it must be communicated to the editor with scientific evidence.

 Second Review Process

The second review process is initiated for articles requested to be reviewed again by the reviewer after the author's revisions. At this point, the article is sent only to the reviewer who requested to review the work again. If the process is completed positively, the decision is made by the field editor.

Proofreading Process

Articles that have completed the peer review process are sent to the proofreader for the purpose of completing any missing elements in terms of writing and spelling, and comparing the original version of the article with the version revised according to the reviewers' requests. At this stage, the proofreader may request the author to correct any errors found.

Preparation for Publication Stage

Layout Processes

The layout process begins for articles that have completed the scientific process. At this stage, articles are assigned a DOI number and are formatted according to the journal template. At this point, the layout editor determines whether elements that could disrupt the integrity of the text, such as photographs, tables, figures, etc., should be included in the text or in the “Appendices” section. The author and article information are added to the front of the relevant work. If available, the ethics committee report is added to the end of the work. After the layout is completed, the work is sent to the author by the layout editor to detect any errors that may arise from the layout, such as font changes, text changes, etc.

Author Approval

The work file prepared for publication by the layout editor is sent to the author for final control. At this stage, the author must review their work in detail, perform final checks, and provide approval indicating that they accept the publication of the article file in the layout format.

Publication

Works that have gone through all of the above processes are sent to the journal repository by the editor as articles that are ready for publication and have been accepted. They are published in the relevant issue.
