Extended Abstract

The Editorial Board of our journal has decided to publish articles in Turkish, German, French, Russian or modern Turkish dialects with an extended abstract in English. In accordance with this decision, starting from the 33rd issue, the articles to be published in Dil Araştırmaları will also include an extended abstract in English. Extended abstracts are not required for articles written in English.

The extended abstract will not be requested from the authors during the initial submission of the manuscript to Dil Araştırmaları, but after the acceptance decision if the manuscript is accepted for publication. However, authors can add the extended abstract in English at the end of the article during submission.

The extended abstract should preferably be 600-800 words in length. In the extended abstract, the purpose, problem, method, findings and conclusions related to the research should be clearly written under relevant headings. Subheadings in the extended abstract may vary according to the type of study. Any findings or results that are not included in the research text should not be included in the extended abstract.

The scope and limitations of the study (e.g. which period, which text, which part of which topics were examined) should be clearly explained. The methodology of the literature review (which databases were used, what kind of sources were accessed, etc.), its purpose and the general trend of the sources (what are the points of intersection or divergence of previous research on this subject, etc.) should be briefly stated.

- Methodology
The type of the study and the methods used in the study (e.g. survey, compilation, survey, historical comparative, applied, conceptual, theoretical, review, qualitative, quantitative, critical, etc.) should be specified and the path followed in the study should be briefly explained. Data collection methods and analysis techniques should be mentioned.

Visuals
The pictures, photographs, maps, figures and tables in the article should be left aligned, italicized and numbered in 10 points (Picture 1., Map 2., Figure 1. etc.), followed by an explanatory statement.
e.g. Table 1. Vowel System in Turkish
Written expressions in tables and figures in the article should not exceed 10 points. Font size can be reduced to 8 in voluminous tables and figures.
Pictures and photographs should be placed in the article in high resolution.
The proportion of pictures, photographs, maps, figures and tables in the article should not exceed 50% of the main text of the article. The article should be planned according to these principles.

Citations and References
Direct quotations from the article should be given in quotation marks. Quotations less than 4 lines should be shown in between lines. Longer quotations on the 4th line should be placed 1 cm from the right and left of the line, in block form and with a single line spacing in 10 points.
References in the text should be written as follows, with the surname, year and page number in parentheses.

Single-author publications (Ercilasun 2016: 75)
Publications with two authors (Gülsevin and Boz 2004: 121)
Publications with more than two authors (Yılmaz et al. 2013: 18)
If the name of the cited author is mentioned in the text Korkmaz (2003: 142)
Indirect references to sources whose originals are not seen. Köprülü (1926, from Çelik 1998)
In online resources, by adding “e-” to the beginning of the web address and shortening it and together with the access date. For https://tr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Türkler (e-WT 11.2.2021)

For Güncel Türkçe Sözlük. https://sozluk.gov.tr/ (e-GTS)
If more than one source is cited at the same place in the text, the sources are separated with semicolons. (Köprülü 1966: 10; Kaplan 2004: 15; Tanpınar 1969: 20)
If an oral source is used, the source person information should be provided with Name, Surname, Date and Place of Interview. (Ahmet Yıldız 23.1.2020, Ankara)

References
The sources used in the article should be, between the main text and the appendices, listed alphabetically by last name. All sources used in the article should be listed under the "References" heading, documents and works that are not mentioned in the article should not be included. References must be written in the Latin alphabet.
In the sources written in other alphabets (Cyrillic, Arabic, Indian etc.), Latin letters should be given priority, then the original form should be given by using the “/” sign.
The name of the author must be indicated in the references. Authors' titles should not be shown. If the author's name is abbreviated in the work used, the abbreviation should be completed and shown in parentheses: e.g. Ercilasun, A(hmet) B(ican).
Since the information given by placing a colon after the city information in the sources will be the information of the publisher, there is no need to use the words "publications, publishing house, bookstore" for publishing houses.
Book and journal titles should be written in italics. Sources such as articles, book chapters, and papers should be shown in quotation marks. Page range information of publications such as articles, papers, encyclopedia articles, book chapters should also be added to the references.
If there is a translator, compiler, editor or editor of the book, its name should be given after the work information.
In the references, if an author has more than one publication of the same date, it should be indicated as (a, b).
When a thesis is cited, the surname and name of the thesis author should be followed by the date of the thesis, the full title of the thesis in italic characters, the type of the thesis, the name of the university and the city. Since theses published as a book or article fall into the category of books or articles, there is no need to use phrases such as "unpublished" in theses.

Manuscripts should be cited as Author. Title of Work. Library. Collection. catalog number. leaf. Access Date information must be given in references to an online study. In the references, these abbreviations should be used if necessary: “Trans.” for the translator, “Edt.” for the editor, “Comp.” for the compiler, “Prep.” for the preparer.
