DUSTIBID Writing Rules
1. General Layout Features
1.1. Page size must be A4 paper size
1.2. Paper borders should be 3 cm from left; 2.5 from right, top and bottom sides/
1.3. Text in paragraphs
1.3.1. Paragraphs should be justified.
1.3.2. Paragraph line spacing should be 1.5 line spacing.
1.3.3. There should NOT be any line spacing between paragraphs.
1.3.4. Paragraphs first line should begin 1 cm inside.
1.3.5. The texts should be in Times New Roman font with a size of 12 point.
2. Manuscript title
2.1. The title of the manuscript should be 14 font size in Turkish and 12 font size in English. Before and after, 0 pt and 1 lines spacing should be left. Authors’ full first and last names must be provided. Author names should be written 12 font size and last names should be written in all capital letters. Author names should be numbered just after the surname as a superscript according to the institution they work for. Institution and/ or organization to which they are affiliated should be written in the footnote. The same number should be given for authors working in the same institution.
2.2. The manuscript should have the introduction, conclusion, and references as the main title. The other main titles, such as literature review or previous works, methods, or findings and discussion, can be added based on the type of study and the content of the subject.
2.3. Between 1st degree titles and paragraphs; there should be 12 pt before and 6pt and 1.5 line spacing after. For 2nd and 3rd degree titles, there should be a space between 6 pt and 1.5 line spacing before and after.
2.4. Only a single line spacing should be left before the introduction section title. If the introduction section title is located at the top/ beginning of the page, there is no need to leave a space.
2.5. Main headings; there should be using 12 font size, bold and only the first letter should be in capital letters. Main title numbering should start with a numeric number (eg: 1. Introduction).
2.6. First subheadings: There should be a Times New Roman, with a size of 11 point, and bold, and only the first letter should be capitalized. Title numbers should be written in numeric (eg: Material).
2.7. Second subheadings: There should be Times New Romans with a size of 11 point with fine font, and only the first letter should be written in capital letters. Title numbers should be written in numeric (eg: 2.1.1. Xxx).
3. Figures
3.1. There should be a 6 pt and 1.5 spacing line before the figures. Figure title should be below the figure and justified to the left. Also, there should be a 6 pt before the figure heading, and 12 pt after it and a single line space.
3.2. Only the first word of the figure title should be capitalized. If the figure title consists of two or more lines, the hanging lines should align with first line. In figure title, the name of the figure should be bold color.
3.3. Figures should be clear and legible.
3.4. They should be in jpg, png, and tiff format with at least 90 dpi resolution.
3.5. If the figure consists of two or more separate parts, it should be numbered in parentheses under each figure with letters such as a, b, c.
4. Tables
4.1. All table columns should have an explanatory title on the top. The title of the table is left-justified; 6 pt and 12 pt should be used before and after the title, respectively, with a single line spacing. After the table, writing should be continued by leaving 12 pt spaces.
4.2. If the table names consist of two or more lines, the sequential lines must align with the first line starting. Table number should be bold. The table description should be written in 12pt font using thin font and green (emphasis 6, darker 25%) color tone
4.3. Tables should not be in picture format.
For example: Table 1. Test results
4.4. The table title should be left-justified and the first letter of the first word should be capitalized.
4.5. Tables should be in portrait orientation in the document. If the table exceed the page borders, you can use the landscape layout for orientation.
4.6. Tables should be prepared by using the giving information above (table format 1), and all tables should be in the same format and writing style (Times New Roman with min 8 and max 10 font size). In the table, only the heading and sub-heading should be written in bold style.
5. Abstract and Keywords
5.1. English and Turkish titles should definitely be placed above both of the summary fields. Abstract title should be written “Özet” in Turkish and “Abstract” in English.
5.2. The abstract section should give a pertinent overview of the work, be concise and realistic and present the essence of the purpose of the research, and main findings and conclusions or interpretations.
5.3. The summary should not exceed more than 250 words.
5.4. Turkish and English abstract section should be in Times New Roman with a size of 10 points.
5.5. There should be one-line blank after the abstract, then type “Keywords:” in English or “Anahtar Kelimeler:” in Turkish in bold, only first letter should be capital letter, followed by 3 to 5 pertinent key words.
5.6. Abstract and keywords should be written both in Turkish and English as can be seen in the template.
5.7. If the manuscript is submitted by foreign authors, they do not need to provide an abstract in Turkish. However, if one of the authors is Turkish, the manuscript must have an abstract in Turkish.
5.8. Keywords should be written in Times New Roman with a size of 10 points.
6. References
6.1. There should be 1.5 lines of spaces between each references.
6.2. References should be written in Times New Roman font type with a size of 12 points.
6.3. The second and more lines of the reference must continue with hanging 1 cm aligment.
6.4. In the arrangement of the references section, the American Psychonogical Association (APA) style should be followed.
Ethical Principles and Publication Policy
Publication Ethics
The publication processes of Düzce University Journal of Ornamental and Medicinal Plants Botanical Garden (DUSTIBID) are based on the unbiased acquiring of knowledge, research, and sharing with scientific methods.
Peer-reviewed manuscripts are studies that ensure the application of the scientific method and impartiality. During the publication processes, all components of processes; publishers, editors, authors, reviewers, and readers must conform to the ethical principles. In this context, DUSTIBID’s publication ethics and open access policy are also in line with the policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) (For instance, the “Publication Ethics
the publication ethics (Committee on Publication Ethics, COPE) and open access policy of DUSTIBID, the code of conduct and best practice guidelines for journal editors in line with guidelines and policies published by the publication ethics committee in open access; it required all components of the punishing process to comply with ethical principles.
If a situation such as manipulating and distorting the data used in the manuscripts and using fake data are detected, the situation will be officially reported to the institution where the author of manuscripts works, and the manuscript will be rejected. DUSTIBID has the right to request the output files of the analysis results from the authors according to the feedback given by the editors and / or referees.
Responsibilities of the Editorial Board
• The Editorial Board of DUSTIBID is responsible for the submission of manuscripts and even all processes after its publication. The Editorial Board is aware of these responsibilities. This responsibility considers only the public interest in decisions made on journal related matters. It requires making decisions independently without considering personal gain. The relationship between the publisher and the editorial board is based on the principle of independence. All decisions taken by the editors are independent of the publisher, other persons, and organizations.
• The Editorial Board of DUSTIBID always strives to improve the journal and increase its publication quality.
• The Editorial Board of DUSTIBID ensures that journal policies such as manuscript publication, double-blind review, evaluation process, and ethical principles are determined and implemented.
• The Editorial Board of DUSTIBID protects the copyright of the article authors published in the journal.
• The Editorial Board of DUSTIBID is responsible for taking precautions regarding intellectual property rights, unscientific-unethical behaviors, plagiarism, and citation misconduct.
• The Editorial Board of DUSTIBID prepares an “Author’s Guide” containing the information requirements of the author(s), and “Reviewer Guides” containing the information that the referees will need during the evaluation phase, and updates it if it’s necessary.
• The Editorial Board of DUSTIBID determined policies to encourage reviewer and the author(s).
• The Editorial Board of DUSTIBID keeps records of each manuscript and correspondence related to the journal electronically or in print.
Ethical Responsibilities of Editor, Assistant Editor and Field Editors
• Editors endeavor to respond when necessary to meet the information needs of reviewers, author(s), researchers, and readers, to act following the principle of clarity in matters that require correction and explanation during the publication process.
• While deciding on the publication of manuscripts, editors pay attention to the fact that the manuscripts are original, scientific, and whether they will contribute to readers, researchers, and practitioners.
• Editors take into account the original value of the manuscripts, their contribution to the field, the validity and reliability of the research method, the clarity of the expression, and the journal’s purpose scope before making positive or negative decisions.
• Editors take the submitted manuscripts to the pre-evaluation stage as long as there is no significant problem, they also consider the positive suggestions of the reviewers, they do not change the decisions made by the previous editor(s) unless there is a serious problem.
• Editors implement the policies of the double-blinded review and evaluation process, which are among the publishing policies of the journal, keep the identities of the referees confidential, and ensure that each manuscript is evaluated objectively and within time.
• Editors send manuscripts taking into account the field of expertise and reviewers, and they support the impartial and independent evaluation.
• Editors take into account whether there is a conflict of interest between editors, reviewers, and author(s) to evaluate the manuscript objectively.
• Editors seek to ensure that the reviewers pool consists of a wide variety and is constantly updated.
• Editors avoid unscientific evaluation that does not follow academic etiquette.
• Editors ensure that the journal publishing processes are operated following publication policies and guidelines, inform their field of duty in the process about the progress in publication policies, and prepare training programs when necessary.
• Editors should have ineffective communication with everyone involved in the publication process and hold meetings at regular intervals.
• Editors ensure the protection of personal data in reviewed manuscripts, protect individual data of authors, reviewers, and readers.
• Editors pay attention to the protection of human and animal rights in the manuscripts, care about documenting the explicit consent of the participants of the manuscripts, the approval of the ethics committee of the participants of the manuscripts, and they reject the manuscript when they do not have permission for experimental research.
• Editors take precautions against misconduct. When there are complaints about misconduct, they make an objective investigation and share the findings on the subject.
• Editors ensure that errors, inconsistencies, or misdirection in the manuscripts are corrected.
• Editors protect the intellectual property rights of published manuscripts a defend the right of the journal and author(s) in case of violation. Also, they take necessary precautions to ensure that the content of published manuscripts does not infringe on the intellectual property rights of other publications, and they do the authenticity-similarity check.
• Editors take into account the consistent criticism of the manuscripts published in the journal and grant the right to reply to the author(s) of the criticized manuscripts.
• Editors also considered studies with negative results.
• Editors examine the complaints about the journal and the process of the submission and make the necessary explanations.
Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
DUSTIBID manuscript evaluation process consists of blind and peer-review principles and the author also can suggest peer reviewer(s) for the manuscript review. The manuscript evaluation forms and the notes specified on the text and the correction requests are forwarded to the author (s) by the editors through the journal management system. Reviewers who will evaluate the manuscript submitted to DUSTIBID should follow ethical responsibilities below;
Reviewers should only agree to evaluate manuscript related to their field of expertise and should do so neutrally and confidentially. In accordance with this principle, they should destroy the manuscripts after the evaluation process, but can use them after publication. Reviewers should evaluate manuscript originality, quality, and intellectual content and should not be affected by race, gender, religious belief, ethnic origin, political philosophy, or any other influences.
When the reviewers understand the conflict of interest, they should refuse to evaluate the manuscript and inform the editors.
Reviewers should evaluate constructive language in accordance with academic ethics and they should avoid personal comments containing insults and hostility.
Reviewers should evaluate the manuscript, which they accepted, within the time specified.
Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
Ethical responsibilities of the author (s) who submitted an manuscript to DUSTIBID:
The publication processes implemented in DUSTIBID are the basis for the development and distribution of information impartially and respectfully. The processes implemented in this direction directly reflect the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support the authors. Peer-reviewed studies are studies that embody and support the scientific method. At this point, all stakeholders of the process (authors, readers, researchers, publishers, referees, and editors) must comply with the standards of ethical principles. Within the scope of DÜOD publication ethics, all stakeholders are expected to the following ethical responsibilities.
It is expected that the manuscript submitted by the author (s) will be original. If the author(s) benefit from or use other studies, they must cite and/or quote completely and accurately.
Persons who do not contribute to the content in the creation of the study should not be specified as authors.
All studies submitted for publication should not have a conflict of interest. If so, their situation and relationship should be explained.
Raw data related to their manuscripts can be requested from the author (s) within the framework of the evaluation processes. In such a case, the author (s) should be ready to present the expected data and information to the editorial board and the scientific board.
The author (s) must have a document showing that they have the right to use the data, the necessary permissions for the research/analysis, or the consent of the experimental subjects.
If the author(s) notice a mistake in their published, preview, or evaluation stage of the manuscript, the author(s) should obligate to inform the journal editor, publisher, or editor and cooperate with them for correction or withdrawing of the manuscript.
Authors cannot submit their manuscripts to more than one journal at the same time during the reviewing process. Each submission can be started following the completion of the previous submission. A study published in another journal cannot be sent to DUSTIBID.
When the evaluation process has started, changing the author’s responsibilities of the study (such as adding an author, changing the order of the author, removing the author) cannot be proposed.
Ethical Responsibilities of Publisher
Düzce University, which is the publisher of DUSTIBID, is a non-profit public education institution that pursues the public interest.
DUSTIBID Editors and Editorial Board act with the awareness of the following ethical responsibilities:
Editors are responsible for all processes of the manuscript submitted to DUSTIBID. In this context, the decision-makers are editors, regardless of economic or political gains.
It protects the property and copyright of every manuscript published in DUSTIBID and undertakes the obligation to keep the records of every published copy.
It has the responsibility to take precautions for all kinds of scientific misconduct, citation fraud, and plagiarism regarding editors.
Reporting Unethical Situations to the Editor
If an unethical situation is encountered regarding editors, reviewers, authors, or a manuscript in the evaluation process, early appearance, or a published manuscript, a message must be sent to DUSTIBID, stibid@duzce.edu.tr.

19 Nisan 1974 yılında Denizli’de doğan Necmi Aksoy, ilk öğrenimini 1980-1985 yılları arasında Karayahşiler Köyü ilkokulunda, orta ve lise öğrenimini 1985-1991 yılları arasında Çivril Ortaokulu ve Lisesi’nde tamamladı. Karadeniz Teknik Üniversitesi Orman Fakültesi Orman Mühendisliği Bölümü’nde 1992 yılında eğitimine başlayan Aksoy, 1996 yılında “Orman Mühendisi” ünvanıyla mezun oldu. Aynı yıl Abant İzzet Baysal Üniversitesi Düzce Orman Fakültesi Orman Botaniği Anabilim Dalı’nda Araştırma Görevlisi olarak göreve başladı. 1997 yılında İstanbul Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü Orman Mühendisliği Anabilim Dalı, Orman Botaniği Programı’nda Yüksek Lisans eğitimine başladı. 1998 yılında, İstanbul Üniversitesi Orman Fakültesi Orman Botaniği Anabilim Dalı’nda Araştırma Görevlisi oldu. Ocak 2001 yılında “Karakiriş Dağı (Seben-Nallıhan) Florası” başlıklı yüksek lisans tezini tamamlayarak “Orman Yüksek Mühendisi” unvanını alan Aksoy, aynı yıl İstanbul Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü Orman Mühendisliği Anabilim Dalı, Orman Botaniği Programı’nda Doktora eğitimine başladı. Aksoy, “Elmacık Dağı (Düzce) Vejetasyonu” başlıklı tezini tamamlayarak Temmuz 2006 tarihinde Orman Mühendisliği Anabilim Dalı, Orman Botaniği Programı’ndan “Doktor” ünvanını almıştır. Eylül 2006 tarihinde Araştırma Görevlisi Doktor ünvanı ile Düzce Üniversitesi Orman Fakültesi Orman Mühendisliği Bölümü’nde göreve başlayan Aksoy, Nisan 2007 tarihinde Düzce Üniversitesi Orman Fakültesi Orman Botaniği Anabilim Dalı’nda “Yardımcı Doçent”, Eylül 2012 tarihinde “Doçent”, Aralık 2017’de “Profesör” unvanı almıştır. Flora, vejetasyon ve biyolojik çeşitlilik konularında ulusal ve uluslararası pek çok yayını bulunan Aksoy; dendroloji (ağaç bilimi), herbaryumlar, arboretum ve botanik bahçeleri, işgalci bitkiler, bitki sistematiği ve sosyolojisi alanlarında çalışmalarını sürdürmekte ve Batı Karadeniz Bölgesi’nde biyolojik çeşitliliğin korunması amacıyla; Düzce Üniversitesi Orman Fakültesi Herbaryumu (DUOF) ve Düzce Üniversitesi Süs ve Tıbbi Bitkiler Üretim, Araştırma ve Uygulama Merkezlerinin kuruluşlarında yer almış ve buralarda biyolojik çeşitlilik üzerine çalışmalar yürütmektedir. Biyolojik Çeşitlilik Araştırma, Uygulama ve Eğitim Merkezi (DÜ-BİYOME) Müdürlüğü, Gölyaka Meslek Yüksek Okulu Müdürlüğü, Orman Fakültesi Dekan Yardımcılığı, Fakülte Yönetim Kurulu Üyelikleri gibi idari görevler yapmıştır. Halen, Düzce Üniversitesi Süs ve Tıbbi Bitkiler Üretim, Araştırma ve Uygulama Merkezi Müdürlüğü görevini ve bu merkezin yürütmüş olduğu Süs ve Tıbbi Bitkiler Botanik Bahçesi Projesinin yürütücülüğünü ve DUOF Herbaryumu Küratörlüğünü yapmaktadır. Ulusal ve uluslararası bir çok herbaryum, botanik bahçesi, arboretum, botanik ve doğa tarihi müzelerinde çalışmalar yapmıştır. 1999-2000 yıllarında TRT’de belgesel danışmanlığı ve Buğday Dergisi Yayın Kurulu üyeliği, 2003-2006 yıllarında Nezahat Gökyiğit Botanik Bahçesi ve Saint Joseph Doğa Tarihi Müzesi’nde bilim danışmanlığı yapmıştır. Karadeniz Teknik Üniversitesi Çevre Kulübü Başkanlığı, TEMA Düzce İl Temsilciliği, yapmış olan Aksoy halen, Kültür Bilincini Geliştirme Vakfı Mütevelli Heyeti, Royal Forestry Society, TEMA, WWF, EADVS, Kırsal Çevre ve Ormancılık Sorunları Araştırma Derneği gibi doğa üzerine çalışmalar yapan; ulusal ve uluslar arası bir çok kuruluşun üyesidir. Aksoy, İngilizce bilmektedir.
Prof. Rumen Tomov is a lecturer in Entomology, Biocontrol, Environmental friendy pest management, Phytosanitary control, and IPM. His main areas of research are bioecology, and control of IAS and pests. Quarantine and invasive species; Environmental and Pest Risk Analysis, Biological Control. He is a participant in 22 projects and networks on IAS, incl. EU projects CONTROCAM, DAISIE, ALARM, SEE-ERA.NET, SCOPES program of the Swiss Government and 4 IAS COST Actions related to invasive alien species FP1002, TD1209, Action FP1401, Action CA17122. He was a sub coordinator of the regional project „East and South European Network for Invasive Alien Species- a tool to support the management of alien species in Bulgaria“ (ESENTAS-TOOLS) and participant in national project Improving the Bulgarian Biodiversity Information System“ (IBBIS). He is a member of the Scientific forum on Invasive Alien Species – European commission; Author of more than 50 scientific publications related to IAS.

1961 Akseki doğumlu. İlkokulu 1972, Erenyaka köyünde (Akseki), Ortaokulu Akseki’de 1977, liseyi Serikte 1980 yılında bitirdi. Lisans eğitimini 1984, Atatürk Üniversitesi(Erzurum), yüksek lisansını Van Yüzüncü Yıl Üniv. Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü’nde 1987, doktororasını Ege Üniv. Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü’nde 1990 yılında tamamladı. 1985 yılında Van Yüzüncü Yıl Üniv. Fen-Edebiyat Fak. Biyoloji bölümünde Araş.Gör. olarak akademik hayata başladı. 1991 yılına kadar bu göreve devam etti. 1991 yılında aynı bölümde Yrd.Doç.Dr.(güncel adıyla Dr. Öğretim üyesi) oldu. Aynı ünvanla 1994 yılında Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi Fen-Edebiyat Fak., Biyoloji bölümüne naklen geçiş yaptı. SDÜ.de 1995 yılında doçent, 2001 yılında prof. Kadrosuna yükseltildi. Halen aynı kurumda Prof.Dr. olarak görev yapmaktadır. Anabilim dalı başkanlığı, bölüm başkanlığı, dekan yardımcılığı, dekan vekilliği, fakülte kurulu üyeliği (Doç.temsilcisi), Fakülte yönetim kurulu üyeliği (Prof.temsilcisi), Botanik Bahçesi ve Herbaryum Araş. ve Uyg. Merk. Müdür lüğü, GÜLAR yönetim kurulu üyeliği ve 2 dönem Fen-edb. Fak. senatörü olarak görev yaptı. Halen biyoloji bölüm başkanıdır.
Alper Uzun şu anda Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam Üniversitesi Orman Mühendisliği (Orman Botaniği) Bölümü'nde çalışmaktadır. Başlıca ilgi alanları Orman ve Bitki Biyoçeşitliliği, Bitki Taksonomisi, Orman Süksesyonu ve Fitososyolojisi ve Etnobotaniktir. Katıldığı son güncel projeler şunlardır: 1. Kuzey Irak'taki Şakran Bölgesi'nin Bitki Biyoçeşitliliği, 2. Nurhak Dağı'nın Florası. 3. Körçoban Tabiatı Koruma Alanı'nın (Kahramanmaraş) Florası. 4. Bitki Filogenisi Posterleri (PPP), 5. Resimli Türkiye Florası (Ononis L.) ve (Rhamnaceae)
2006 yılında Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Okul Öncesi Öğretmenliği ile Rehberlik ve Psikolojik Danışmanlık lisans programlarından çift ana dal okuyarak mezun oldu. 2010 yılında Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Eğitim Bilimleri Bölümü Yetişkin Eğitim Programında yüksek lisans eğitimini, 2016 yılında Marmara Üniversitesi Okul Öncesi Öğretmenliği Programında doktora eğitimini tamamladı. 2020 yılında Okul Öncesi Eğitimi bilim alanında doçent ünvanını aldı. Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Okul Öncesi Öğretmenliği Ana Bilim Dalında yarı zamanlı öğretim görevlisi olarak ders verdi. Hâlen Balıkesir Üniversitesi Necatibey Eğitim Fakültesi Okul Öncesi Eğitimi Ana Bilim Dalında görev yapmaktadır. Erken çocuklukta öz düzenleme, ebeveyn davranışları, müze eğitimi ve çevre eğitimi konularında çok sayıda ulusal ve uluslararası yayını ile proje çalışması bulunmaktadır.
2005 yılında Mustafa Kemal Üniversitesi, Eğitim Fakültesi, Resim Öğretmenliği Bölümünden mezun oldu. 2009 yılında (Erasmus Programı) Fransa’da Lille şehrinde Tourcoing Ecole Regionale Superiore d’Expression de Plastique’ de (ERSEP) dersler aldı. 2010 yılında Mersin Üniversitesi, Güzel Sanatlar Enstitüsü, Resim Anasanat Dalı, Yüksek Lisans Programından mezun oldu. 2014 yılında Gazi Üniversitesi, Güzel Sanatlar Enstitüsü, Resim Anasanat Dalı, Sanatta Yeterlilik Programından mezun oldu. Halen Düzce Üniversitesi Sanat, Tasarım ve Mimarlık Fakültesi Resim Bölümünde çalışmaktadır. Yurt içi ve yurtdışında çeşitli karma sergi, festival, workshop ve sempozyumlara eserleriyle katılmıştır. Murat SARGINCI was born on August 13, 1979, in Bayburt , Turkey, to Yener and Şefika SARGINCI. He completed his B.S. degree at the University of Abant Izzet Baysal, Turkey, Faculty of Forestry, in 2002, majoring in Forest Engineering, he started his M.S. program in the Department of Forest Engineering, Soil Science and Forest Ecology Program at Abant Izzet Baysal University Science Institute, Turkey, in 2002 and completed it in 2005. He then started his PhD. program in the Department of Forest Engineering, Soil Science and Forest Ecology Program at University of Istanbul, Science Institute, Turkey, in 2008, then he went back to Düzce University where he worked to continue his PhD in 2009. While his PhD he also worked as a visiting scholar at Department of Forest Science, College of Forestry at Oregon State University in USA in 2012 for one year. He finished his PhD program at Duzce University in the Department of Forest Engineering, Soil Science and Forest Ecology Program in 2014. Murat SARGINCI is currently working at the Düzce University, Faculty of Forestry, the Department of Forest Engineering, Branch Department of Soil Science and Ecology as an assistant professor. His research interests are Forest Ecology, Forest Soils, Forest Management, Sustainable Forestry, Climate Change, Forest Carbon Sequestration, Carbon and Nutrient Cycles, Plant Nutrition, Soil and Plant Nutrient Analyses, Litter Decomposition.
Prof. Dr. Sezgin Ayan is a Professor of Silviculture at the Faculty of Forestry, Kastamonu University, Türkiye. He received his BSc in Forestry from Karadeniz Technical University, followed by an MSc and a PhD in Silviculture. Prior to his academic career, he worked for nine years at the Ministry of Forestry in forest nursery management and forest research, holding senior positions, including Chief Engineer and Head of the Tree Improvement Department. He has held several academic and administrative positions, including Head of the Forest Engineering Department, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Erasmus Institutional Coordinator, and Vice-Rector of Kastamonu University. Prof. Dr. Ayan is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of international peer-reviewed forestry journals and has served on the editorial and advisory boards of numerous international scientific journals. His research focuses on silviculture, afforestation, forest restoration, and tree improvement. He has coordinated and participated in numerous national and international research projects. Among the international events he has organized are the 14th IUFRO Fir Symposium (Kastamonu, Türkiye, 2012), the 10th IUFRO Beech Symposium (Kastamonu, Türkiye, 2015), and the International Scientific Forum on Rehabilitation and Restoration of Degraded Forests (Astana, Kazakhstan, 2015).
Throughout his academic career, he has served as principal investigator and/or researcher in 33 completed scientific projects. He is the author or co-author of more than 200 peer-reviewed scientific publications. He has visited nearly 50 countries for scientific projects, academic events, and Erasmus teaching activities, and has served as a Visiting Professor in Kazakhstan.
1967 yılında Hatay-İskenderun’da doğdu. İlk (İnönü İlkokulu), Orta (Namık Kemal Ortaokulu) ve lise (İskenderun Lisesi) eğitimini İskenderun’da tamamladı. 1985’te İstanbul Üniversitesi Orman Fakültesi Peyzaj Mimarlığı Bölümü’nü kazandı. 1990’da mezun olduktan sonra, 1991-1993 yılları arasında İ.Ü. Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü Peyzaj Mimarlığı Yüksek Lisans Programı’nı tamamladı. 1992 yılında İ.Ü. Orman Fakültesi Peyzaj Mimarlığı Bölümü’ne araştırma görevlisi olarak atandı. 1994-2000 arasında İstanbul Üniversitesi, Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, Peyzaj Mimarlığı Anabilim Dalı’nda Doktora eğitimini tamamladı. 2016-2022 yılları arasında İstanbul Üniversitesi, Açık Ve Uzaktan Eğitim Fakültesi, Coğrafya Bölümü’nden mezun oldu. Orta düzeyde Almanca ve başlangıç düzeyinde İngilizce bilmektedir. Halen İstanbul Üniversitesi-Cerrahpaşa Orman Fakültesi Peyzaj Mimarlığı Bölümü Bitki Materyali ve Yetiştirme Tekniği Anabilin Dalı’nda Dr. Öğretim Üyesi olarak görevine devam etmektedir.
