Dr. Karacan Özdemir received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychological Counseling and Guidance (PCG) from Hacettepe University in 2005, and completed her Master’s (2009) and Ph.D. (2016) degrees in the same field at Middle East Technical University. Her doctoral research focused on career counseling and guidance.
With more than a decade of professional experience, Dr. Özdemir worked as a school counselor at Kavaklı Dershane between 2006–2008 and at METU Development Foundation Ankara Schools between 2008–2016. Since 2019, she has been serving as a faculty member in the Department of Psychological Counseling and Guidance at Hacettepe University.
Dr. Özdemir has authored and co-authored numerous publications in national and international journals, contributed to research projects, served as an editor, and written several book chapters in the fields of career counseling and school counseling. She also teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in these areas.
He is a faculty member at Hacettepe University Faculty of Education, Department of Science Education. He completed his undergraduate education at Hacettepe University in 1996 in the Department of Chemistry Teaching (in German). He worked between 1996 and 1998 as a chemistry teacher in high schools (in Gümüşhane and Ankara) affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. After that, he completed his Master's Degree with a Scholarship from the Ministry of National Education in Chemistry Education at Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University in France in 2001. Later, he received his doctorate degree in Chemistry Education from the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris in 2005. Research areas; science teaching, chemistry teaching, inquiry-based science teaching. In addition, it provides in-service training to teachers in schools.
