1. Manuscript Acceptance and Content
im: Journal of communication & media studies accepts academic works in Turkish and English. The issues may include translations selected by the editors or the editorial board, reviews of works between 1500 - 4000 words, event reviews and interviews. Manuscripts should be between approximately 3500 - 9000 words including references and bibliography. Explanatory notes should be numbered in the text and added as footnotes at the bottom of the relevant page.
2. Öz/Abstract and Extended Abstract
Each work should include a 150 - 200 word Turkish and English abstract (with at least three and at most five keywords). An extended abstract of 600 - 750 words in English should be added at the end of Turkish manuscripts. These should not contain direct references to any source; they should briefly explain the purpose, scope, problem, method, findings/discussion of the study.
3. Formal and Bibliographic Rules
Before submitting their manuscripts for consideration, authors should ensure that they comply with the formal and bibliographic rules set by the journal. 4. Revisions and Corrections
As a result of the preliminary review by the editors, corrections may be requested for the manuscripts or a return/refusal decision may be made. Manuscripts for which revisions are requested by referee evaluation and editorial decision are sent back to the authors with a decision letter. Authors should make corrections according to the findings specified in the decision, in the referee evaluation forms attached to the decision, and in the notes taken on the text, if any, emphasise the changes made in the text, and resubmit the manuscript within fifteen days unless otherwise stated in accordance with the publication schedule. Otherwise, the studies will be rejected.
5. Compliance with Ethical Rules
Authors should prepare their studies in accordance with scientific ethical values and rules and pass the similarity programme against plagiarism. In the programme, all sections of the studies including references and bibliography should be scanned and all reports should be uploaded to the system. Studies with a similarity rate of 20% or more in the report and/or a different result in the second report received for confirmation by the journal are not evaluated. For the studies revised after the referee evaluations, a new report meeting the same criteria is obtained by the authors and uploaded to the relevant section in the application interface. For these reports, a second report is received by the journal for confirmation purposes.
6. Manuscript Submission
Authors should upload all the documents requested from them in the manuscript submission interface; write their names, titles, institutions and ORCID information completely in the file containing their information; and make sure that these are up-to-date in their profiles in the DergiPark system.
7. Publication Permission
Authors must fill in and sign the relevant document stating that they give permission for their work to be published in the journal and upload it to the DergiPark system. The copyright of the works published in the journal belongs to the authors.
8. APA 7 Citation System
APA 7 citation system, which is structured by the Editorial Board in accordance with Turkish, is used in the journal. The rules regarding this are included in the manuscript template and author guidelines.
9. Ethics Committee Permission
The journal expects an ethics committee decision to be obtained for all scientific studies in which data are collected through surveys, interviews, focus group studies, observations, experiments and various interview techniques with a quantitative or qualitative approach; using humans and animals for scientific purposes and retrospective studies within the framework of personal data protection legislation. It stipulates that scientific research on humans and animals must be conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki and ARRIVE guidelines. A copy of the ethics committee decision, together with its annexes, should be uploaded to the application interface; the name, date and decision number of the committee should be clearly stated in a footnote to the Introduction and in the method section. In case reports, the information that the informed consent form was obtained should be stated in the manuscript. Studies without ethics committee approval cannot be evaluated.
