Peer Review Policy of JIAE

The Journal for the Interdisciplinary Art and Education (JIAE) adheres to the principles of ethics, transparency, and quality in scholarly publishing. The journal employs a double-blind peer review system, and all processes are conducted exclusively through the DergiPark online system, ensuring that every stage is documented and traceable. The aim is to maintain the integrity, consistency, and accountability of the peer review process.

Editorial Pre-Evaluation
All submissions undergo an editorial screening before the peer review process begins. During this stage, the editorial team evaluates the following criteria:
* Relevance to the aims and scope of the journal
* Formatting requirements, including citation and reference style
* Ethical declarations and required permissions or documents
* Language quality and academic clarity (in line with English academic writing standards)
Manuscripts that fall outside the scope of the journal, fail to meet ethical or technical requirements, or are substantially incomplete may be desk-rejected before review.
This stage is completed within 10 days.

Reviewer Assignment and Evaluation
Manuscripts that pass the pre-evaluation are assigned to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. Reviewer selection is coordinated by Section Editors, based on the manuscript’s keywords and methodological focus.
The following principles apply to reviewer selection:
• Reviewers must have no conflict of interest with the author(s).
Editors or associate editors are not allowed to act as reviewers for submissions where any conflict exists.
• Reviewer selection follows the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), ensuring representation across gender, geography, and academic background.
• Reviewers are expected to complete their reports within 30 days, with extensions allowed when justified.
Based on reviewer reports, a manuscript may receive one of the following decisions:
(a) Accept, (b) Minor or major revision, or (c) Reject.
Additional review rounds may be initiated when necessary. The full peer review process is typically completed within 60 days.

Author Revisions and Appeal Rights
Authors are invited to revise their manuscripts according to the reviewers’ comments within the specified timeframe. Each revised version is re-evaluated by the same reviewers whenever possible.
Authors have the right to appeal editorial or reviewer decisions by submitting a reasoned statement. Appeals are reviewed objectively by the Editorial Board.

Preparation for Publication and Final Checks
Accepted manuscripts undergo a final review by the editorial team for ethical, formal, and technical compliance before publication.
• Authors must upload a final similarity report before the final version is accepted. The recommended similarity threshold is below 20%.
• The manuscript is then processed for DOI assignment, typesetting, and archiving.
• All post-acceptance steps are completed within 180 days from the date of acceptance.

Transparency, Equity, and Diversity
JIAE is committed to ensuring a fair, unbiased, and inclusive review process.
• Participation of underrepresented researchers as reviewers is encouraged.
• All review and decision records are stored with time stamps for traceability and auditability.
• Every participant in the editorial and peer review process is bound by a confidentiality and ethics agreement.

Publication Decisions and Ethical Compliance
Final publication decisions are made by the Editors-in-Chief, based on reviewer reports and the recommendations of Section Editors. All procedures follow the standards and guidelines of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).
In cases of suspected ethical misconduct, COPE flowcharts and best-practice procedures are applied.

Archiving and Data Security
All manuscripts, review reports, editorial communications, and decision records are securely stored in a cloud-based archiving system.
Access to these records is restricted to authorized editors, and no data are shared with third parties at any stage of the process.

Acceptance–Rejection Policy and Targets
Between 2022 and 2024, JIAE maintained an average acceptance ratio of 76%, reflecting the journal’s openness to emerging interdisciplinary studies. However, in alignment with the quality assurance standards required by Scopus, JIAE has implemented a stricter peer review and editorial evaluation policy starting from 2025.
The journal aims to reach a balanced and selective acceptance rate between 40% and 50% by 2026, ensuring that only methodologically sound, high-impact, and internationally relevant manuscripts are published. This goal aligns with JIAE’s commitment to academic rigor, transparency, and research excellence in the field of interdisciplinary art and education.
