Special Issue Policy

JIAE's Special Issue Policy
An JIAE special issue is a collection of articles focusing on an area of research within the journal's scope (music studies). These topics are determined by special issue editors (guest editors) with the aim of exploring emerging areas of study, highlighting subdisciplines, or exploring new interdisciplinary applications.

Special Issue Proposals and Processes
Anyone can apply to the JIAE Editorship for guest editorship in order to submit a special issue proposal to JIAE on a special issue topic that will be of interest to music researchers. JIAE may also make offers to music researchers for special issue guest editing. Researchers' proposals for special issue editorship are meticulously evaluated in terms of their qualifications and adequacy as guest editors. Special issue proposals that are appropriate and meet qualification standards are accepted by the editorial board. Due to reasons such as the low number of articles submitting for special issues, the specificity of the article topics, and the scarcity of articles with high quality standards, the publication of the special issue may be canceled and the articles may be returned, even if all processes are completed, by the decision of the editorial board.

Special Issue Publication and Ethical Principles
Suitability of Special Issue Content with the Scope of JIAE
The guest editor designated for the special issue is responsible for ensuring that the content of the special issue is within the scope of Rast Musicology Journal. Editor-in-Chief of JIAE reserve their rights to audit and review the content suitability of the special issue.

Timeline
The special issue editor will determine the timeline for the special issue with JIAE's editorial team. This timeline will be published on the JIAE website. In this table, the article submission deadline, review period, layout and publication dates will be specified.

Conflicts of Interest
During the peer review process, all editors and reviewers involved in the special issue must disclose any possible conflicts of interest. In this way, objectivity should be kept at the highest level in the decision-making process in peer evaluation. If the editor has a conflict of interest, he or she must recuse himself during the peer review process. That's why a reserve editor must be assigned to a special issue. Possible editorial conflicts of interest should be reported to the publisher by e-mail or in writing and necessary precautions should be taken.

Rigorous Peer Review
The review process for articles in special issues follows the same procedures as in regular issues. Genc Bilge (Young Wise) Publishing is committed to rigorous and independent peer review. It holds the special issue editors responsible for the meticulous peer review that increases the quality of JIAE in Turkiye and worldwide. Since it sees the publication of special issues as a prestige, it ensures that independent referees other than the editorial board take part in the peer review. After the referee evaluations, the special issue editor will make a provisional decision, and the referee review processes of all articles will be inspected by the chief editors to ensure that the articles meet JIAE's quality standards. JIAE chief editors reserve the right to reject articles submitted for the special issue that contain abnormal data or academic misconduct. This decision was taken to prevent situations that could harm academic integrity, such as popularization of a field and bias, that may occur in special issues.

Citations Policy
The special issue editor may never ask his or his colleagues to add references to articles in any journal. One must act very meticulously in this regard and comply with JIAE's ethical principles and publication policies. In addition, it must comply with the documents prepared by COPE on citation manipulation.

Special Issue Editor's Article Submission
The special issue editor may be someone who has important work on the subject of the issue and contributes to the field. However, article submissions for the special issue are limited to only 1 article. In article applications, a substitute editor will take part in the article review process.

Special Issue Article Items
The important thing of the special issue is that the articles are of high quality in terms of creating space. In this respect, the special issue editor should focus on ensuring that the quality standards of the articles are high. The number of Supplementary or Special issues that can be published in a year; cannot be more than 1/3 of the number of regular issues published in a year. The number of articles in a special issue cannot be more than the number of articles in a regular issue of RMJ. In this respect, the number of articles in a special issue cannot be more than 10 articles and less than 5 articles.
