Abstract
In this study, it is aimed
to examine the entrepreneurial characteristics and critical thinking tendencies
of prospective science teachers in terms of some variables. In this context,
the research was conducted according to descriptive research type. The study
group of the research is composed of 273 prospective science teachers studying
at a state university in Ankara in the fall semester of the 2019-2020 academic
year. It was determined according to purposive sampling method which is one of
the working group methods. Two data collection tools were used in the study.
The first data collection tool; ‘Entrepreneurship Scale for Prospective
Teachers (ESPT)’ was developed by Deveci and Çepni (2015). The second data
collection tool; ‘Critical Thinking Disposition Scale (CTDS)’ was developed by
Ricketts and Rud (2005) and was adopted to Turkish language by Demircioğlu
(2012). SPSS 21 analysis program was used for data analysis. According to the
results of the study, it was concluded that the prospective teachers' critical
thinking tendencies and entrepreneurship characteristics were well developed.
It was determined that both the critical thinking tendencies and
entrepreneurship characteristics of prospective science teacher did not differ
according to gender, but differed according to class level and working status.
It was also concluded that there was a high positive and significant
relationship between the entrepreneurial traits and critical thinking
tendencies of prospective teachers.
