Author Guidelines

The Journal of Academic Tourism Analysis (Journal ATA) accepts submissions in the form of research articles, research notes, book reviews, article/book critiques, and academic opinions (academic opinions are accepted only with editorial approval and/or invitation). All submissions to the Journal ATA are initially subject to a preliminary editorial review in terms of format and content. Manuscripts deemed suitable are subsequently forwarded to the peer-review process.

All manuscripts submitted to the Journal ATA must be prepared in Microsoft Word using the “ATA Journal Article Template.” In addition, the mandatory documents listed below must be uploaded during the submission process. Authors are kindly requested not to alter the formatting structure provided in the journal template. If the journal template is not used or required files are missing, the manuscript will be returned to the author(s) for correction and resubmission before the evaluation process is initiated.

Manuscripts may be submitted in Turkish or English. Regardless of the language of the manuscript, both a Turkish Öz and an English Abstract must be provided. Free support for the preparation of the Turkish Öz is available through the journal secretariat for authors who do not speak Turkish. The abstract must be 150–200 words in length. Manuscripts should contain 4,000–7,000 words at the initial submission stage, while the final revised version must not exceed 8,000 words, including tables, figures, and references. If the manuscript is found not to comply with the word limits, it will be returned to the author(s) for revision before the evaluation process begins.

A maximum of five keywords may be provided. Keywords should avoid general, plural, and multiple concepts (e.g., “and,” “/,” etc.). For English keywords, either American English or British English spelling conventions must be consistently followed; mixed usage is not permitted. Abbreviations should be avoided unless they are widely recognized and clearly established in the literature. Keywords will be used for indexing purposes.

Author information must not be included in the main manuscript file. Such information should be provided by completing the “Title Page” included among the submission documents. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all information is entered accurately and completely.

Empirical studies should consist of the following sections: Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Findings, Conclusion, and References. Subheadings should not be used in the Introduction section.

For manuscripts written in Turkish, an Extensive Summary of 800–1,200 words must be provided following the References section. The Extensive Summary must consistently follow either American English or British English spelling conventions; mixed usage is not permitted.

Detailed manuscript formatting and writing guidelines are provided in the journal article template. Authors are required to comply with the formatting rules specified in the template regarding font style, formatting principles, tables, figures, footnotes, equations, in-text citations, and reference formatting. Journal article templates are provided below:

The Journal ATA is indexed in various databases and continues to apply for inclusion in additional indexes. Accordingly, certain information regarding the publication process and author(s) must be submitted completely during the application process in accordance with indexing criteria. The required documents are listed below:

In addition, all manuscripts submitted to the Journal ATA are subject to similarity (plagiarism) screening. During the submission process, authors may obtain a similarity report via the DergiPark System through intihal.net. The acceptable similarity rate for submitted manuscripts is 20% excluding references. Editors reserve the right to use any plagiarism detection software deemed appropriate for similarity screening.

Depending on the nature of the research, Ethics Committee Approval may be mandatory for certain studies. Detailed information regarding cases in which ethics committee approval is required can be found on the Ethical Principles and Publication Policy page.
