Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

Publication Policy

As a journal aware that easy access to information is essential for advancing scientific research, JSTER supports the initiative to make peer-reviewed literature open access, as outlined in the Budapest Open Access Declaration, and offers all published articles free of charge in an environment where everyone can read and download them.
Peer-reviewed articles are studies that ensure the application of the scientific method and impartiality. Publication of an article in a peer-reviewed journal is a crucial building block in developing a consistent and reputable knowledge network. It is a direct reflection of the quality of work of the author and the institutions supporting them.

Open Access Statement
JSTER is loyal to open access for academic work, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of its articles and to use them for any other lawful purpose. All the articles published in this journal are free to access immediately from the date of publication. We do not charge any fees for any reader to download articles for their own scholarly use.

Ethical Principles

In the realization of scientific production, all components of the publication process—publisher, editors, authors, reviewers, and readers—must adhere to ethical principles. Ethical considerations to be taken into account in publication:

-Authors
1. All works submitted to the Journal of Science, Technology and Engineering Research must be entirely original, and the sources and materials used in these works must be cited in accordance with the rules of literature. Works that do not comply with these rules will be directly rejected due to plagiarism. 2. Submissions to the Journal of Science, Technology and Engineering Research (JSTER) must not have been previously published in another journal and must not have been submitted for publication elsewhere while being evaluated by Ege Academic Review.
3. Authors should not submit the same study or a study containing the same research to more than one journal.
4. Works presented at conferences and whose abstracts have been published may be accepted for evaluation provided that the presentation and publication dates and locations are specified to the editor.
5. If a manuscript is submitted for review, the editorial board assumes that the authors have accepted the above-mentioned conditions.
6. Authors who wish to withdraw their submitted works due to delay or other reasons should contact the editor.
7. Authors will not receive any royalties for the publication of their works.
8. Works that require ethical committee approval under the TR Dizin Journal Evaluation Criteria (https://trdizin.gov.tr/kriterler/) cannot be published without obtaining ethical committee approval. 9. For all research involving the collection of data from participants using observation, experiment, focus group, interview, and survey techniques, obtaining "ethics committee approval" is mandatory. 10. For studies outside this scope, a statement indicating that the study does not require ethics committee approval, signed by all authors, must be uploaded to the system along with the Author Copyright Form. Otherwise, the studies will not be considered for evaluation.

-Reviewers
• To objectively and promptly review the article to contribute to the editor's decision-making process and to agree to evaluate only studies related to their area of expertise. • To conduct the evaluation objectively, solely based on the content of the study. • To provide guidance to help improve the quality of the article to be published and to meticulously review the study. To communicate their comments to the author in a constructive and polite manner. • To protect the confidentiality of the information provided by the editor and author, to destroy the reviewed study after the evaluation process in accordance with the principle of confidentiality, to report any situation contrary to blind peer review to the editor, and to not evaluate the study.

-Editorial Board / Editors
• Editors are responsible for ensuring that all articles are evaluated fairly and impartially; therefore, the decision to accept or reject an article depends solely on the importance, originality, and clarity of the article, and its relevance to the journal's field.
• To evaluate submitted works based on their content, without showing favoritism to any author.

• To take necessary precautions to prevent potential conflicts of interest and to evaluate any existing statements.

• In case of a complaint of ethical violation, to implement the necessary procedures in accordance with the journal's policies and procedures. To give authors an opportunity to respond to the complaint and not to hesitate to apply the necessary sanctions regardless of who the work belongs to.

• To reject submitted works if they do not conform to the aims and scope of the journal.

• To act in a balanced, objective, and fair manner in fulfilling their duties without discrimination based on gender, religious or political beliefs, or the ethnic or geographical origin of the authors.
