Articles submitted to JSTER must be prepared in accordance with the writing and formatting rules specified below and the journal's current article template.
1. Article Template
Articles should be prepared according to the JSTER 2026 article template using Calibri 20-point font for headings, Calibri Light 9-point for the abstract, and Calibri 9-point for the main text with single line spacing.
First and second-level headings should be in bold, while third-level headings should be in standard italics.
Author names should be in Calibri 12-point font, and author affiliations and other article information should be in Calibri 9-point font.
The template's consistency in font, size, headings, and line spacing should be maintained throughout all sections of the article.
Articles submitted to JSTER must be prepared using the journal's current article template.
Turkish Article Template
English Article Template
The main article file submitted during the initial evaluation phase should not contain the authors' names, institutions, email addresses, ORCID information, or any other information that could reveal their identities. *** Author information should be provided on a separate Title Page.
2. Article Language
JSTER accepts articles in both Turkish and English. Articles must be prepared in accordance with academic writing rules, scientific terminology, and grammatical rules of the language used. In English articles, ensuring the integrity of language, terminology, and expression is the responsibility of the authors.
3. Article Title
The article title should:
• Clearly and accurately reflect the content of the study,
• Avoid unnecessary abbreviations,
• Be as clear and understandable as possible,
• Be consistent with the scientific content of the article.
The article title should be semantically consistent in both Turkish and English.
4. Abstract and Keywords
Abstract
The Turkish and English abstracts should be consistent in terms of content. The abstract should be between 200-300 words and clearly reflect the aim, methodology, main findings, original contribution, and main conclusion of the study. The abstract should not be limited to describing only the general subject of the study; it should provide sufficient information about the main scientific contribution and findings of the research.
Keywords
Each article should include at least 3 and at most 5 keywords. The Turkish and English keywords should be consistent in terms of content and meaning.
5. Article Structure and Titles
While titles can be modified depending on the nature of the article, the following structure should generally be followed in research articles:
1. Introduction
2. Literature Review / Related Studies
3. Materials and Methods
4. Results
5. Discussion
6. Conclusion
7. References
Depending on the type of study, the “Literature Review / Related Studies” section can be organized within the Introduction section or as a separate section.
Section titles can be modified depending on the nature of the study; however, the scientific flow of the article should be clear and consistent.
7. Abbreviations
When a term is used for the first time, it should be written out in full and its abbreviation given in parentheses. The abbreviation should be used in subsequent uses.
8. Tables and Figures
All tables, figures, and graphs should be numbered within the text and clearly cited in the relevant section.
Tables and figures taken from or adapted from other sources must be properly cited, and the necessary copyright/usage permissions must be provided by the author.
9. Equations, Units, and Symbols
Mathematical expressions and equations should be presented clearly and consistently. Equations cited within the text should be numbered.
10. Citation and Bibliography
JSTER uses the IEEE citation and bibliography style.
In-text citations should be numbered according to the order of first use of the sources and shown in square brackets: [1], [2], [3]
If more than one source is cited together, the relevant IEEE notation format should be used: [1], [3], [5] or [1]–[3] for the range.
Each work in the bibliography must be used at least once in the text; each source cited in the text must be included in the bibliography.
For academic sources with DOI information, the DOI information should be given in the bibliography.
For internet sources, the access date should be given according to the nature of the source.
Authors are responsible for consistently providing the author name, title, journal name, volume, issue, page, and DOI information for their sources.
The use of unpublished sources or sources whose scientific quality cannot be verified should be avoided.
11. Similarity Report
Articles should be checked for similarity before submission. Academic similarity detection tools such as Turnitin or iThenticate can be used. Articles with a total similarity rate exceeding 20% submitted to JSTER will not be considered, and the rate of matching with a single source is expected not to exceed 3%. Authors should submit the similarity report with the article.
12. Reviewer Recommendation Form
JSTER may request reviewer recommendations from authors when deemed necessary, or authors may optionally recommend reviewers using the reviewer recommendation form.
The recommended reviewers must include:
• Name and surname,
• Institution,
• Area of expertise,
• Research topics,
• Email address.
Authors should not recommend individuals with whom they have a conflict of interest or with whom they have recently published. Reviewer recommendations are not binding on the editor. The selection and assignment of reviewers is the editor's responsibility. Reviewer Recommendation Form
13. Post-Revision Reviewer Response Form
If revisions are requested as a result of the reviewer evaluation, authors must submit their responses to the reviewers' comments using the Reviewer Response Form.
Each reviewer's comment should be responded to individually, and the section or page of the article where the changes were made should be stated as clearly as possible. If the referee's recommendation cannot be implemented, the scientific justification for this must be explained. The revised article, along with a file indicating the changes (where necessary), and the referee's response form, must be uploaded to the system.
14. Ethical and Miscellaneous Information in the Article
Depending on the nature of the article, the following statements should be included in the relevant section of the article:

• Author Contribution
• Data Availability Statement
• Acknowledgments
• Statement on the Use of Artificial Intelligence
Articles should be checked one last time against the current JSTER article template before being submitted for evaluation.
JSTER Article Publication Criteria
Articles published in scientific and academic journals must meet specific characteristics and formatting criteria.
- The formatting characteristics of articles, adherence to writing rules, accuracy and compliance with standards of article sources, article title, abstract, and keyword quality are evaluated.
- Every scientific article must have a "References," sources must be written in the Latin alphabet, and attention must be paid to their presentation, accuracy, and accessibility.
- Articles in the journal must include an abstract and keywords in the language of the article. A word limit should be given for abstract writing, and this rule should be followed. Abstracts and keywords should conform to international standards.
- The submission and acceptance dates of scientific articles in the journal should be included on the first page, preferably at the bottom.
- The institutions, contact information, and internationally valid "ORCID" information of all authors should be included.
- Article writing rules should be examined in detail, and articles must strictly adhere to the format given in the journal. For example; This includes formatting such as tables, figures, headings, subheadings, abstracts, and bibliography.
- For research in all scientific disciplines requiring ethical committee approval (ethical committee approval must be obtained, and this approval must be stated and documented in the article), the article should include: a statement of the researchers' contribution rate, a statement of support and acknowledgments (if any), and a statement of conflict of interest.
