Publication Review Process and Principles

Articles submitted to the Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University International Journal of Art and Design must be prepared in accordance with APA 7 (American Psychological Association) guidelines.
Manuscripts intended for submission must be uploaded to the system in Word format as specified on Dergipark. Authors are responsible for ensuring that manuscripts are formatted according to the journal’s template and uploaded to the system correctly. Therefore, manuscripts must be reviewed by the authors before being uploaded to the system.

1)    The journal employs a double-blind peer review process. Articles are sent to two reviewers, and if two positive reviews are received, the article may proceed to publication. During the review process, reviewers consider the originality of the research, coherence of the subject matter, contribution to the field, consistency of terminology, clarity, and command of the language.

2)    Manuscripts deemed scientifically and formally suitable are sent to reviewers. Following the review, if both reviewers provide positive feedback, the manuscripts are included in the publication process; if one reviewer provides positive feedback and the other negative, a third reviewer is assigned to the manuscript. Based on the final reviewer’s feedback, a decision is made regarding whether the manuscript will be included in the publication process. If reviewers request revisions, they may conduct a re-evaluation if deemed necessary.

3)    The review period is 15 days. If the reviewer’s report is not completed by the end of this period, a new reviewer is assigned to ensure the review process is not delayed. Once the reviewers’ reports are received by the editor, the following procedures are followed:
•    If both reviewers recommend that the article is “acceptable for publication,” the manuscript is placed in the publication queue.
•    If the reviewers’ evaluations of the same article are completely contradictory, the article is sent to a third reviewer, and the final decision is made in accordance with the third reviewer’s opinion.
•    If one of the reviewers recommends “publishable after revisions,” the relevant revision requests are communicated to the author. After the author makes the necessary revisions, the revised manuscript is resubmitted to the relevant reviewer, and their final opinion is sought.
•    If both reviewers recommend that the article is “not publishable,” the editor informs the corresponding author that the article has been rejected.
•    Articles that receive a negative outcome from the peer review process are not published. If the same article is resubmitted, it will not be included in the review process.

4)    Articles that pass the peer review process are scheduled by the Editorial Board, taking into account the journal’s scope, thematic coherence, and content balance, based on the completion dates of the peer review reports, and are published in the first available issue.
5)    The authors bear full responsibility for the scientific content, language, and legal liability of the articles published in the journal.

6)    Submissions are accepted only through the DergiPark system. In order for the review process to begin, authors must upload their manuscripts to the system via DergiPark.
7)    The manuscript must consist of the following sections: title, abstract, keywords, introduction, methods, results, conclusion/discussion, and references. The introduction section should include information on the problem statement, objective, significance, scope, limitations, and methodology.
8)    Manuscripts that receive a “publishable after revision” decision following peer review are revised in accordance with the reviewers’ reports. The revised manuscripts are re-uploaded to the journal’s website via the previous submission record.
9)    The names of the reviewers and the author, along with related documents, are stored in the journal archive.
10)    The personal information of reviewers and authors, as well as documents related to the review process, are stored in the journal archive in accordance with confidentiality principles.
11)    Authors make the necessary revisions to their manuscripts under review for publication in accordance with the reviewers’ comments. Text revisions must be indicated using red ink, while other revisions must be highlighted with a yellow highlighter. The revised text must be uploaded via the submission system and named “revision_fulltext.”

The journal is published in June and December of each year, no later than the last business day of the respective month.
