Article Evaluation Process

Article Evaluation Process

Evaluation Principles
1) Manuscripts that have not been previously published or are not currently under review for publication in another journal and approved by each author are accepted for evaluation.
2) Submitted and pre-checked articles are scanned for plagiarism using iThenticate software.
3) Kurdiyat journal conducts a double blind review process. All manuscripts will first be evaluated by the editor for suitability to the journal. Manuscripts deemed appropriate are sent to at least two independent expert referees to assess the scientific quality of the manuscript.
4) The Editor-in-Chief evaluates manuscripts independently of the ethnic origin, gender, nationality, religious beliefs and political philosophy of the authors. He/she ensures that the manuscripts submitted for publication undergo a fair double blind peer review.
5) The editor-in-chief does not allow any conflict of interest between authors, editors and referees.
6) The editor is responsible for the final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of articles. The editor's decision is final.
7) Editors are not involved in decisions about manuscripts written by themselves or by family members or colleagues, or that relate to products or services in which the editor has an interest. Any such submission is subject to all of the journal's usual procedures.
8) Reviewers should inform the Editor if they suspect misconduct in the research or publication. The Editor is responsible for taking necessary actions in accordance with COPE recommendations.
9) In our journal, reviewers are given 20 days for the evaluation process. This period can be extended by adding 10 days.
10) The article evaluation process in our journal takes an average of 12 weeks.

Article Evaluation Process
The article evaluation process in our journal consists of 4 main titles as preliminary review, referee process, revision and publication.

1- Preliminary Review
• The manuscript is reviewed by the editor for compliance with the journal's editorial guidelines, academic writing rules and APA 7 citation system, and is scanned for plagiarism using the iThenticate program. The similarity rate must be less than 20%. Manuscripts exceeding this rate are returned to the authors at the preliminary review stage.

2- Referee Process
• For manuscripts that pass the preliminary review stage, the Double Blind Review process is initiated. Within the scope of this process, the manuscript is sent to two referees who are experts in their fields for evaluation. During the refereeing process, the identities of the referees and authors are kept confidential and the process is carried out within the framework of the principle of confidentiality. In order for a study to be published in our journal, both referees must give a positive opinion. However, if one of the referees gives a positive opinion and the other a negative opinion, the manuscript is sent to a third referee for a final decision.

3- Revision Process
• If revisions are requested by the referees, authors should mark the changes in red. Revisions made in line with referee requests are evaluated and checked first by the editor and then by the referees.
• The manuscripts whose referee process is completed are reviewed by the language editors of our journal. If deemed necessary, language and spelling revisions are requested from the authors. Revisions made by the authors are reviewed and approved by the language editors.

4- Publication Process
• After undergoing technical, academic and linguistic reviews, the articles are typeset and edited, made ready for publication and published in the next issue.
