Determination of the Primary School Students Awareness Levels towards Values: Case of Hospitality
Abstract
The main purpose of this study is to determine the possibility of the reinforcement
the value of hospitality and the norms about hospitality which have an important statute
in Turkish culture, in the minds of 8th grade students, through stories. It was intended to
determine the interpretations of the students about hospitality through a story that told them
by researchers. Because of this, it was asked students to summarize the story which was
told them and add their own interpretations in this process and write this. Their responses
analyzed with codes and themes. Following results are attained in this study: (1) Students
can explain the events and cause- effect relationships through story. (2)Students can realize
the intentions and the motives of behaviors. (3)Stories are effective in teaching process of
values.
