Abstract
The general objectives of primary education put forward the qualities, which students
should gain in accordance with the general objectives of Turkish national education. These
qualities are desired to be gained with the help of several courses in the primary education
curriculum which has been established in order the fulfil the objectives of primary education
and put into practice. The qualities cover some cognitive qualification, psychomotor
competence and affective behaviors.
People who know can be brought up through cognitive qualification; people who have
got the ability to do can be brought up through psychomotor behaviors and people who
question and know what to do can be brought up through affective behaviors.
In Turkish national educational system, the objectives facing sensible characteristics
decrease when both educational level increases and the amount of general objectives
decreases. Besides some other effects, the decrease in the objectives result in the studies about
affective behaviors can’t be achieved in a sufficient level.
The emotions which are objected to be gained are mentioned in curriculum; however,
in content, there is no explanation about these emotions and there is no concrete examples
about how to gain these emotions. This situation affects the quality of education negatively.
In this study, the objectives of primary education curriculums are analyzed in the
respect of affective behaviors and emotional education and some proposals are put forward.
