I. International Media, Digital Culture and Religion Congress Special Issue

International Media, Digital Culture and Religion Congress (MDCRC) is an academic event planned to be held annually under the leadership of the Medya ve Din Araştırmaları Dergisi - Journal of Media and Religion Studies.
This special issue of the journal brings together original manuscripts selected from among the papers presented at the I. International Media, Digital Culture and Religion Congress, which took place online on April 26–28, 2024, under the coordination of Erciyes University and with the support of the Republic of Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Radio and Television Supreme Council. By focusing on the nexus between media, digital culture, and religion, the congress endeavors to advance domestic academic inquiry onto the international stage, thereby broadening the reach and significance of the resulting scholarship.

Scope
The articles included in this special issue reflect the congress’s interdisciplinary approach to the theme of “media, digital culture, and religion.” They comprise current and original research on the impact of digital culture within the media–religion nexus, online religious experiences, Islamophobia and hate speech, as well as the implications of artificial intelligence and new media technologies for the field of religion.
