PERCEPTIONS OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHERS ON THE COMPETENCE OF TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESS

Abstract

Elementary school teaching is the name given to the guidance of a critical period in which personality exposed to great change and takes shape.Elementary school teaching has been discussed as a profession in terms of the nature of readiness level on applications of pre-service and in-service.In this context,it is aimed to determine elemetary school teachers’views on the competence of teaching and learning process.This study is a screening model and measurement tool of pedegogical competence, developed by Dilci and consisting eleven sub-dimensions, is used for data collection.For the statistical analysis of the data obtained in this study,percentage,freqency,arithmetic average and t-test were used.According to the resuts of the study; while there is a significant difference between male and female teachers’ classroom management in the classroom,there is no significant difference between their dimensions of the competence with respect to seniority but it is significant that the value of arithmetic average is closed to the partially proficient.On the other hand,it is reflected to the study that male teachers feel themselves more competent than female teachers.Based on these results,suggestions for improving the competence of teaching and learning process of the elementary school teachers via in-service education have been presented
