Oğuzhan Journal of Social Sciences is a refereed e-journal published by the Social Sciences programs of Vocational Schools affiliated to Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University. The aim of the journal is to assist scientific efforts in all fields of Social Sciences. Oğuzhan Journal of Social Sciences writes all articles on Social Sciences as two issues, June and December. The opinions in the reviews in the journal are not the opinions of the journal. All responsibility belongs to its authors. No cash royalties are paid to authors.

RULES

  1. The article template should be used for all parts of the article, so that the author's page editing and formatting operations are minimized.
  2. Articles should not have been previously published elsewhere or submitted for evaluation for publication elsewhere.
  3. Articles, abstracts, footnotes and references to be sent to the journal should not exceed 30 pages.
  4. The languages ​​accepted by the journal are Turkish and English.
  5. Abstracts should not exceed 1600 characters, including spaces.
  6. Text of the main issues that may be indicative of the type under the summary and he was accepted in the scientific language used in the field, numbers ranging from 3 to 8 keywords ( keywords ) should be given.
  7. All manuscripts should be sent to the editor in accordance with the rules specified in the APA 6 publication guide. Manuscripts not written in accordance with the manual will not be evaluated.
  8. In order to preserve the objectivity in the evaluation readings, the Applicant Information File should be downloaded and filled in from my site and uploaded to the system together with the article in docx format for author information and other information at the beginning of the text .

Title of the Article


  1. The title of the article should not exceed 150 characters, including spaces. (This rule can be stretched at the request of the referees who have reviewed the article)
  2. If the main language of the article is Turkish, the first heading part should be filled in English if the heading part is just below Turkish.

 Abstract 

  1. Abstracts should not exceed 1600 characters, including spaces.
  2. If the main language of the article is Turkish, the first summary section should be filled in English and the summary section next to Turkish.
  3. Text of the main issues that may be indicative of the type under the summary and he was accepted in the scientific language used in the field, numbers ranging from 3 to 8 keywords ( keywords ) should be given.
  4. In essences; Care should be taken to include the purpose, method, findings and result information.
  5. Abstracts should not be cited or abbreviated.

Main Text and Section Titles

  1. Normal should be selected in the Styles section for the downloaded template for the main text.
  2. The article section titles should be numbered including the INTRODUCTION, only the bibliography section should be numbered. 1. INTRODUCTION, 2. METHOD… 5. CONCLUSION, REFERENCES
  3. Subheadings are also 1.1. , 1.2. by associating with the relevant section title

Tables and Figures

  1. The explanation should be written on the material , such as table, figure, etc. If the source related to the material will be used, the source should also be written below.

Quotes

  1. Short quotations in the text should be given in double quotes, and if quotation marks are required in the quotation, a single quotation should be used.
  2. If quotation marks are not used in direct quotations, the system perceives it as plagiarism.
  3. It is important that our authors pay attention to this issue in order to start the evaluation process in a shorter time.
  4. Book, magazine, newspaper, film and program names should be written in italics in the text. Numbers can be specified with letters or numbers provided that they are consistent within the text. When specifying the date in Turkish texts, first the day, then the month should be written.

Arrangement of Resources

  1. In-text references and bibliographies of all articles submitted to the journal should be arranged in accordance with the APA system, and the sixth edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association should be used as the source .
  2. All references made in the text should be indicated in the text by writing the surname of the author, the date and, if quoted, the page number ( Barthes , 1975, p.104 ). The same method should be applied to other references to the same sources, "ibid." Phrases such as should not be used.
  3. If the cited work has two authors, the surnames of both authors should be specified ( Lipovetsky & Charles, 2004); If authors are more than two, "et al." meaning "and others" after the first author's surname. The phrase should be used ( Jenkins et al., 2009); References to more than one source should be separated with a semicolon (Alemdar, 1999; Oskay, 1994).
  4. For the works of the same author in the same year, the phrases “a, b, c” should be used ( Cassetti , 2011a ) and these phrases should be the same in the text and in the bibliography.
  5. If a secondary source is in question, the in-text reference should be arranged as (as cited in Elsaesser , 2004, p. 82) or ( as cited in Musser Elsaesser , 2004, p. 82), depending on whether the name of the cited author is included in the text .
  6. In the bibliography, only the references cited in the text should be included with their full tags and all references should be arranged according to the author's surname and year regardless of their types.

Ethical Principles

Scientific Research Ethics

  • Scientific methods are used in obtaining, analyzing, interpreting and reaching the data. Non-scientific results cannot be used as research results.
  • Author(s) must adhere to the national and international agreements during research period and must obtain permission from the competent authorities.
  • The data obtained in the studies must be used in the manner/form permitted by the authorities. It is essential that data, which must not be shared, remain confidential.
  • Researchers are obliged to inform the relevant persons and institutions about the problems that may occur after research done. Each researcher has the right not to participate in research due to these unintended consequences.

Publication Ethics

  • Persons who do not contribute to the study during scientific research and writing should not be cited as authors.
  • The author(s) must avoid situations such as irresponsible authorship, plagiarism, junk science, multicasting, segmentally publications, biased source, biased publication, and human-animal ethics.
  • The author(s) must follow the citation system stated in the journal during the writing phase of the manuscript.
  • Unpublished or un-presented works should not be cited in the manuscripts.
  • All or part of any work cannot be published without permission or citation (plagiarism is not allowed).
  • The author(s), if any, must state the financial sources of the study.

Referee Ethics

Referee(s);

  • must be experts in the fields of subjects of the manuscript.
  • is (are) obliged to objectively and clearly his/her criticism. He/she must not act in accordance with his / her personal interests / opinions and, if necessary, refuse to act as a referee.
  • should take into consideration the texts are personal during the evaluation process and should not share the texts with third parties.
  • should not transfer information from the manuscript for their own work and should not seek any academic / personal interest.
  • should provide clear and detailed reasons for the articles to be rejected.
  • should also take into account the journal's scientific research and publication ethic rules.

Editorial Ethics

Editor (s):

  • is obliged to appoint at least two referees appropriate to the subject of the candidate manuscripts.
  • must ensure communication between the referee(s) and the author in charge, taking into account the blind review process.
  • must maintain their relations in a transparent and objective manner without discrimination between any authors and referees.
  • must not use their position for their own individual and academic interests.
  • must provide clear and detailed justifications for the manuscripts they will reject.
  • must also consider scientific research, publication and review ethics.

Publication Policy

  1. Oguzhan Journal Social Scieces is an international peer reviewed e-journal and published three times a year in January, May and September.
  2. All scientific and original articles on any subject related to economics and administrative sciences could be submitted to the Journal. The number of review articles and case reports to be published could not pass 25% of the total number of articles.
  3. No fee is charged from the articles sent to the journal for evaluation or for application.
  4. A single author cannot publish two articles in succeeding two volumes or in one year. Therefore those authors who send more than one article to the Journal are accepted to approve the rule.
  5. The articles should be written either in Turkish or in English.
  6. The articles should be prepared by using the article template to be attained form the web site of the Journal.
  7. The articles should be prepared in accordance with the spelling rules and should be uploaded to the DergiPark system. Together with the article(s) the Article Application Form that is signed by all the authors should be uploaded to the system. The authors should add their titles, institutions where they work/study, contact information and Orcid ID information to the system.
  8. The articles sent to the Journal in order to be published should be prepared by the author(s) in accordance with research and publication ethics. For the research made in the article and for clinical and experimental studies on human and animal that necessitate ethics committee approval separate ethics committee approvals should be taken and these approvals should be mentioned in the article and should be documented. In those articles necessitating ethics approval, approval-related information (name of the committee, date and number) should be given in the method part and also in the first/last page of the article. In the case reports the information that the volunteer signed the informed consent form/consent form should be given in the article. Therefore in the cases that necessitate ethics committee approval, those articles that do not send these documents would not be evaluated and would be rejected.
  9. An article sent to the Journal follows three stages: pre-control, evaluation and editing. After author(s) send(s) the article, the article may be withdrawn through DergiPark system only during the pre-control stage. In other stages, it is impossible for the author(s) to withdraw the article. The process ends with the approval or rejection of the article.
  10. The articles sent to the Journal for publication are initially checked in the pre-control stage. The stage is completed at the latest in 20 days following the submission date of the article. In this stage, the article is checked for it compliance with our publication principles, spelling rules, the rules of publication ethics and being scientific. Within the scope of the pre-control three decision may be made: send to the reviewer (evaluation) process, for the article to be sent to the reviewer some alterations should be made, and insufficient for sending to the reviewer and for publishing. If the second decision – for the article to be sent to the reviewer some alterations should be made – is taken, the author(s) has/have 20 days for making the alterations and resend the article. Otherwise, the evaluation process of the article would be terminated and the article would be rejected.
  11. Articles submitted for publication in the journal are passed through iThenticate plagiarism programs at the pre-check stage. Articles with a similarity index rate of more than 20% and articles up to 30% are returned to the author for correction, and articles over 30% are rejected without being included in the evaluation process. The authors who submit their papers are accepted to have declared that they do not plagiarize; they accept any sanction caused by any plagiarism; and they admit that the Journal have no responsibility on such situations.
  12. Following the pre-control stage, the articles pass to the evaluation stage. In the beginning of the evaluation stage, the articles are inspected by the editorial board or publication board for the quality, originality and scientific contribution and within 10 days at most, the article is sent to the reviewers or is rejected without sending to the reviewers.
  13. After the decision that the article may be sent to the reviewers for the evaluation stage, the article is sent at least two reviewers (double blind reviewers) for a control in terms of content and format. No information is given to the authors about the identities of the reviewers or to the reviewers about the owner(s) of the article. The reviewers are requested to make a decision whether they are going to evaluate the article or not within 10 days and if they accept to evaluate the article to finish their evaluation within 30 days and send their evaluation reports. Those reviewers who do not send the reports within the duration are warned and additional time of 10 days may be given for twice at most. In case of not sending the reports event within the additional duration, the article is sent to another new reviewer. If the reviewers need a second or third time evaluation following the first one, the aforementioned durations are initiated from the beginning.
  14. In accordance with the evaluation reports from the reviewers, the paper may be published, may be re-sent to the author(s) for correction, or may be rejected. In case of a correction all correction(s) should be made within at the latest 2 months and sent to the
  15. Journal. Otherwise, the evaluation process of the article would be terminated and the article would be rejected.
    If one of the reviews is positive while the other is negative, the editorial board may send the article to the third reviewer or may reject the article in accordance with the reviewer report. Therefore, in order for an article to be published, it should take positive decisions from at least two separate reviewers.
  16. Those articles that are found to be sufficient in the evaluation stage are sent to the editing stage. In the editing stage, with the decision of the editorial board, the articles are taken to the publication phase by taking the submission dates into account. In this stage, the requests of the authors for their articles to be published earlier are refused whatever the reason of the authors. In this respect, Oguzhan Journal of Social Sciences do not accept any article for publishing it in a particular volume and the authors may submit articles to the Journal at any time they desire.
  17. Those articles that are found to be insufficient would not be send back to the author(s).
  18. The opinions in the articles published in the Journal are not the opinions of the Journal and all the responsibility belongs to the authors. The Journal does not pay any royalties to the author(s) of the articles published.
  19. The applications of those articles that are not improper in terms of publication principles would not be accepted. The evaluation process of those articles whose deficiencies are noticed later on, would be terminated and the article would be rejected regardless of the stage of the evaluation process.
