The Turkish Journal of Fashion Design and Management (TJFDM) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. The journal adopts internationally recognized ethical principles to ensure the reliability, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record.
Ethical Framework
TJFDM adheres to the principles and best practice guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All parties involved in the publication process (authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher) are expected to comply with these principles.
Ethics Committee Approval
As of 2020, Ethics Committee Approval is mandatory for all studies involving human participants, personal data, or experimental procedures. Authors must clearly state whether ethical approval is required for their study; if required, the name of the approving committee, approval date, and reference number must be provided in the manuscript. This requirement applies equally to national and international authors in accordance with relevant legal and ethical standards.
Authors’ Ethical Responsibilities
Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality, accuracy, and ethical compliance of their work. All listed authors must have made a significant scholarly contribution to the study. Proper citation of sources, disclosure of conflicts of interest, and compliance with ethical approval requirements are mandatory.
Authors may be required to provide access to data supporting their findings where applicable. Transparency and reproducibility of research data are considered essential components of scientific integrity.
Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI)
TJFDM adopts a transparency-based approach to the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools. Such tools may only be used to support the writing process, such as language editing or formatting. They must not be used to generate original scientific content, research findings, or conclusions.
AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Authors retain full responsibility for the originality, accuracy, and integrity of their work. If generative AI tools are used during manuscript preparation, this must be clearly disclosed in the manuscript. Routine grammar or spell-checking does not require disclosure.
Unless explicitly defined as part of the research methodology, the use of generative AI to create or modify figures or images is not permitted. Editors and reviewers may use AI tools in a limited manner for editorial purposes, provided that confidentiality and ethical standards are maintained.
Editors’ Ethical Responsibilities
Editors are responsible for maintaining editorial independence, ensuring fair and unbiased decision-making, and preserving the integrity of the peer review process. Editorial decisions are based solely on the academic merit of the work and are independent of commercial, political, or institutional influences.
Reviewers’ Ethical Responsibilities
Reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts objectively within their field of expertise while maintaining confidentiality. They must disclose any conflicts of interest and must not use unpublished materials for personal advantage.
Handling of Ethical Misconduct, Corrections, and Appeals
TJFDM takes all allegations of ethical misconduct seriously. Cases of suspected plagiarism, data fabrication, authorship disputes, or other unethical practices are handled in accordance with COPE procedures, which may include correction, rejection, or retraction.
The journal follows international publication ethics standards and COPE guidelines in handling retraction, correction, and expressions of concern.
If significant errors, omissions, or ethical violations are identified in a published work, a correction may be issued following evaluation. In cases affecting the scientific validity of the work, articles may be retracted with a clearly stated justification.
Authors, reviewers, or third parties may submit requests for evaluation or appeal regarding published works or editorial decisions. All applications are handled confidentially and evaluated in accordance with international ethical standards.
Where necessary, additional information or documentation may be requested from the parties involved. Submissions are reviewed within a reasonable timeframe, and feedback is provided to the applicant. Authors are expected to promptly inform the editorial office if they identify errors in their published work.
Special Issue Policy
The journal may publish special issues focusing on specific themes when deemed appropriate. Proposals for special issues must be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief and should clearly define the scope, objectives, and timeline.
All submissions to special issues are subject to the journal’s standard double-blind peer review and editorial evaluation processes. Special issues may be managed by guest editors who are appointed for a defined period and are expected to operate in accordance with editorial policies.
Editorial Independence and Academic Diversity
The journal is committed to maintaining editorial independence and academic diversity. Submissions from editors, editorial board members, and the affiliated institution are subject to the same double-blind peer review and editorial processes as all other submissions.
Archiving and Repository Policy
The journal uses digital archiving systems to ensure long-term accessibility of published content. All articles are made openly accessible through the DergiPark platform.
The final published version (publisher’s PDF) may be shared in institutional repositories or on personal websites after publication, provided that proper citation is given and a link to the original publication is included.
