Publication Model: Periodical Publication ( March - September )

Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

Manuscripts submitted to the Turkish Journal of Fashion Design and Management (TJFDM) must comply with the journal’s academic, ethical, and technical requirements. Submissions are accepted only through the DergiPark online journal management system.

Submission and Publication Policy

Manuscripts submitted to the Turkish Journal of Fashion Design and Management (TJFDM) must meet academic, ethical, and technical standards. The journal publishes only original research articles and review articles within its scope; manuscripts that have been previously published or are under consideration elsewhere are not accepted.

Publication Language and Language Responsibility

The publication languages of the journal are Turkish and English. Authors are fully responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are written clearly, accurately, and in an academically appropriate style in the selected language. If the language quality is considered insufficient for proper academic evaluation, the manuscript may be returned to the authors before the peer-review process. As the journal does not provide language editing or translation services, authors are encouraged to seek professional assistance when necessary.

Author Responsibilities and Ethical Compliance

TJFDM adheres to the principles and guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). In cases of suspected ethical misconduct, the journal follows COPE procedures, which may include correction, expression of concern, or retraction.

Authors are responsible for the originality, academic integrity, and ethical compliance of their submissions. All listed authors must have made a significant scholarly contribution to the study.

For studies involving human participants, personal data, or experimental procedures, Ethics Committee Approval must be obtained in accordance with national and international ethical standards (e.g., the 1964 Declaration of Helsinki and its subsequent amendments). Information regarding the approval (name of the committee, date, and approval number) must be clearly stated in the manuscript. This requirement also applies to international authors, where applicable.

Similarity Report Requirement

All submissions are subject to plagiarism screening. The overall similarity rate (excluding references) must not exceed 20%, and similarity from a single source must not exceed 5%. Authors are required to upload a similarity (plagiarism) report generated using recognized plagiarism detection software at the time of submission. For detailed information, please refer to the journal’s Plagiarism Policy.

Post-Acceptance Responsibilities

After acceptance, authors are expected to cooperate with the editorial team during revision, copy-editing, and publication processes and to respond to editorial communications in a timely manner.

Manuscript Preparation, Declarations, and Submission Process

Manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with the official TJFDM manuscript template and formatted according to the APA 7 citation style. Submissions must be made in Word format (.doc or .docx); the text should be written in a single-column layout, double-spaced, with margins of at least one inch on all sides. Pages must be numbered consecutively, and the manuscript should not exceed 25 pages.

In addition to the manuscript file prepared in accordance with the template, authors are required to upload a signed Copyright Transfer and Conflict of Interest Declaration Form. Authors must also disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest that may influence the research process or the interpretation of the results. If no conflict of interest exists, this must be explicitly stated in the manuscript.

Within the scope of copyright and originality, authors retain the rights to their work; however, they are responsible for obtaining written permission from the relevant authors and publishers for any previously published material (e.g., text, tables, figures) used in the manuscript.

Declarations (Mandatory for All Submissions)

Authors must include the following sections at the end of their manuscript, immediately before the “References” section:

Ethics Committee Approval

For all studies involving human participants, personal data, or experimental procedures, ethics committee approval details (name of the committee, date, and approval number) must be clearly stated.

Example:
“This study was approved by the X University Social and Human Sciences Ethics Committee (Date: DD/MM/YYYY, No: XXX-123).”

For studies that do not require ethical approval (e.g., reviews or secondary data analysis), the following statement should be used:
“Ethical approval was not required for this study as it is based on a systematic review of existing literature / conducted using publicly available secondary data.”

Use of Artificial Intelligence

The use of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools is addressed within the framework of scientific integrity and transparency. Such tools may only be used in supportive stages of the research and writing process, and any use must be clearly declared.

Authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and ethical compliance of the content. For detailed information, please refer to the Artificial Intelligence Policy.

The specific role of each author in the study must be clearly defined.

If none exist:
“The authors declare that they have no conflicts of interest to disclose regarding this study.”

Special Issue Policy

The journal may publish special issues focusing on specific themes when deemed appropriate. Proposals for special issues must be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief and should clearly define the scope, objectives, and timeline. All submissions to special issues are subject to the journal’s standard double-blind peer review and editorial procedures. Special issues may be managed by guest editors with relevant expertise. These editors are appointed for a limited term and are expected to operate in accordance with the journal’s editorial policies.

Editorial Independence and Diversity

The journal is committed to maintaining editorial independence and academic diversity. Submissions from editors, editorial board members, and the affiliated institution are subject to the same double-blind peer review and editorial processes as all other submissions.

Archiving and Repository Policy

The journal ensures the long-term preservation and accessibility of its published content through digital archiving systems. All articles are stored and made openly accessible via the DergiPark platform. The final published version (publisher’s PDF) may be shared in institutional repositories or on personal websites after publication. Proper citation to the published version must be provided, and a link to the original article must be included.

Retractions and Corrections

The journal follows international publication ethics standards and COPE guidelines in handling retractions, corrections, and expressions of concern. If significant errors or omissions are identified in a published article, a correction may be issued following appropriate evaluation. In cases of serious ethical misconduct or issues affecting the scientific validity of the work, articles may be retracted, and the reasons for retraction will be clearly stated. Authors are expected to promptly inform the journal if they identify errors in their published work.
