(MSc) from Karadeniz Technical University, Civil Engineering in the Hydraulics main branch in
1992, and his doctorate (Ph.D.) in 1996 from the same year. Dr. Süme worked as a
construction engineer at Yapı Merkezi A.Ş. in Istanbul. At Karadeniz Technical University
and Recep Tayyip Erdogan University, the Technical Sciences Vocational School, Department of
Construction, and taught as an instructor. He has published 5 professional scientific books, 3
poetry books, and more than 100 national and international articles, papers, and research.
He works on hydraulics, fluid mechanics, coastal structures, sea level changes, coastal
surveys, and water-based energy production. It specializes in the T Groins, specifically 9
Months at the Bolton School of Higher Education in England, he taught in Florida
International University (FIU) in the Civil Engineering Department for one year. Dr Sume is
a refereed international member of the Editorial Board of Engineering and Science Journals.
He also serves as the founder, member of the editorial board, and editor of the Turkish
Journal of Hydraulics. This journal is published internationally in Turkish and English.
Currently, Professor. Veli Sume, since 2018, has worked as a Professor in the
Department of Civil Engineering at Recep Tayyip Erdogan University. It trains
undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students and conducts many research projects.

Prof. Dr. Rasoul Daneshfaraz was born in 1972 in Tabriz, East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. He completed his bachelor's at Urmia University, Iran. Master's and doctoral degrees from Ege University in Türkiye, respectively. He has published more than 300 articles in journals and conferences, and is a reviewer of reputable scientific journals in his field. He has authored various books on hydraulics, fluid mechanics, and mathematical and laboratory models. He is currently a full professor at Maragheh University and has scientific collaboration with Recep Tayyip Erdogan University in Türkiye.

Dr. Sina Sadeghfam is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Maragheh, where he has been a faculty member since 2017. His research focuses on groundwater and surface water modeling, environmental risk and vulnerability assessment, drought, hydroclimate, land subsidence, water pollution, and AI applications in water resources. With expertise in both traditional hydrology and cutting-edge computational methods, Dr. Sadeghfam bridges the gap between environmental science and technology. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed papers in prestigious international journals, contributing to advancements in sustainable water resource management. His interdisciplinary work addresses critical challenges such as climate change impacts on water systems and data-driven solutions for environmental hazards.
He was born on September 19, 1975 in Rize. After completing his primary and secondary education in Rize, he started his undergraduate education in 1992 at Istanbul Technical University, Sakarya Faculty of Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering completed it in 1996. He received his master's degree in Civil Engineering from Sakarya University in 1998 and worked as a field engineer and construction manager in various infrastructure constructions until 2015. Since this date, he has been working as a lecturer at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University. Since 2019, he has been continuing his education in the PhD program at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University, Department of Civil Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Veli SÜME. He conducts field studies on coastal structures and sand shallowing under the influence of waves. He is married with 3 children. He is a member of the Chamber of Civil Engineers of Türkiye.

Mahesh Pal is currently working as Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, India. He joined NIT Kurukshetra in 1994 and proceeded for doctoral studies under Commonwealth scholarship scheme in 1999. He was awarded PhD degree from the University of Nottingham, Nottingham, U.K., in 2002. He has published extensively on land-cover classification, feature selection, and application of artificial intelligence techniques in various civil engineering applications. He was also awarded Commonwealth and Fulbright fellowship in 2008 and 2012 respectively for further studies on hyperspectral remote sensing in UK and US respectively.
Dr. Berrin Tansel is an environmental engineer, researcher, author, educator, and professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Florida International University (FIU). Before joining FIU, Dr. Tansel was a project manager at the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority and worked on the Boston Harbor cleanup project. She was a project manager at PEER Consultants, and a consultant for the Soap and Detergent Association, SCS Engineers, City of Pompano Beach, and ERM-South. She worked at the Center for Environmental Management at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts, on the preparation of six reports to the US Congress on solid waste management that were used in the development of environmental regulations.
Dr. Tansel teaches graduate and undergraduate courses covering fundamental theory, laboratory experimentation, and design aspects of environmental engineering with particular emphasis on sustainability, wastewater and water treatment processes, infrastructure system reliability, and contaminant transport in soil and water environments. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed literature on cutting-edge research and education strategies and served as a technical expert on numerous professional committees. She has authored over 200 scientific research papers, contributed to manuals of practice, and published six books. Her research at Kennedy Space Center on developing a closed-loop water recovery and recycling technology for space travel was recognized as one of the Research Projects that Benefit the NASA-KSC and Nation through the Vision of Space and used for developing water conservation and recycling programs on Earth.
Dr. Tansel is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers and a Board-Certified Environmental Engineer by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists (AAEES). She is an elected fellow of The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the Water Environment Federation (WEF), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and Environmental and Water Resources Engineers (EWRI). She is the recipient of 2024 Fair Distinguished Engineer Educator Medal (WEF), 2024 Ralph Fuhrman Medal for Outstanding Water Quality Academic-Practice Collaboration, 2023 Pohland Medal from the Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors (AEESP), 2021 Science Award from the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists (AAEES), 2021 Margaret S. Petersen Outstanding Woman of the Year Award and 2009 Edmund Freidman Professional Achievement Award from American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Engineer of the Year Award from ASCE Miami-Dade Chapter, Public Education Award from Florida Water Environment Foundation (FWEA). She is the founding Editor-in-Chief of Environmental Challenges Journal (Elsevier) and served as the Co-editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Environmental Management (Elsevier) for over six years.
Dr. Tansel is a commissioner and executive committee member of the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission (ETAC) of ABET, and a Program Evaluator (PEV) for environmental engineering and civil engineering programs for the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET. She served on the Board of Scientific Counselors (BOSC), the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate Change Subcommittee, the Environmental Engineering Council of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering & Surveying (NCEES), and the Boards of Trustees of the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers (AAWRE) and Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors (AAEESP). She is a registered professional engineer in Florida, USA. Dr. Tansel holds PhD and MS degrees in environmental engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a BS degree in chemical engineering from Middle East Technical University.
Prof Dr Mohammad Taghi Sattari (ResearcherID: AAI-3212-2020 and ORCID No:0000-0002-5139-2118) currently works at the Department of Water Engineering (Hydro-informatics section), University of Tabriz, Iran. Mohammad does research in Water Resources Management, Hydro-informatics. Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering and Data Mining in Hydrology.
Dr Mohammad Ali Ghorbani (1974), is presently a Professor of Hydrology at the University of Tabriz, Department of Water Engineering, Iran, since 2005 with B.Sc. in Irrigation, M.Sc. in hydraulic structures and Ph.D. in Hydrology. His research interests include Hydrology, Artificial Intelligence and Water Resources Development. He has published 70 international and 60 national peer-reviewed papers, as well as one chapter in an international book. He has co-ordinated several research projects and supervises a number of research contracts with PhD students. He is a reviewer to more than 12 different international journals involving engineering, water resources and artificial intelligent.
Dr. John Abraham is a thermal-sciences researcher from the USA where he works on a wide variety of problems in the medical, climate, sustainability, manufacturing, and related fields. He has published approximately 500 works including journal papers, books and book chapters, patents, and technical presentations. He also is an active consultant for industry.
Dr. Alban Kuriqi is an internationally recognized Albanian Research Scientist advancing sustainable river systems, water resources management, hydraulic structures, hydropower, and renewable energies potential assessment, with a strong focus on environmental impacts and innovative mitigation measures. His work bridges engineering innovation and environmental stewardship to support resilient water futures. He earned his Ph.D. in River Restoration and Management from the University of Lisbon in 2021, where he developed an innovative methodology to optimize small hydropower energy production while reducing ecological disturbances. He also holds a five-year integrated diploma in Civil/Hydrotechnical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Tirana and an M.Sc. in Civil Engineering, specializing in Water Resources and Hydraulics, from Epoka University and Grenoble Institute of Technology. With over 15 years of experience across academia and engineering practice, he has contributed to hydropower design, river rehabilitation, hydraulic and embankment structures, water and wastewater systems, and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS). He is currently an Adjunct Lecturer at the University for Business and Technology. His interdisciplinary research spans hydropower, river restoration, environmental flows, climate adaptation, and artificial intelligence in water resources engineering. He has authored over 180 peer-reviewed publications and has been ranked among the World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University for multiple consecutive years.
Ergashov Jasurbek Dilmurodovich was born in 1991 in the Surkhandarya Region of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He received his B.Sc. degree in Building and Civil Engineering from the Tashkent Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering in 2013 and his M.Sc. degree in Structural Engineering Design from the same institution in 2015.
He holds a Ph.D. in 05.09.01 – Building Structures, Buildings and Structures and is currently an Associate Professor. His research focuses on the mechanical behavior of fiber-reinforced concrete, with particular emphasis on its strength and deformation characteristics. His academic interests include structural engineering, reinforced concrete structures, fiber-reinforced concrete, and the performance of construction materials under various loading and environmental conditions.

Dr. Toprak is a civil engineer and academician in water sciences (M.Sc., PhD). He interests in water resources, hydraulics, fluid mechanics, global climate change, statistics, and fuzzy logic.
He was born in October 8, 1967 in Diyarbakir – Turkey. He graduated from Hizirilyas First School, Ali Emiri Secondary School, and Gaziantep High School in 1979, 1982, and 1985 respectively. He graduated from Dicle University, Engineering Faculty Civil Engineering Department in 1989. Just after graduating, he worked in the private sector for a short period. He completed his MSc studies in 1994 at Firat University and his PhD from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) in 2004. He gets titles Assoc. Prof. and Prof. in 2011 and 2017, respectively.
Dr. Toprak has more than 150 of published studies, which 12 of them are books or books’ chapters in water resources, hydraulics, fluid mechanics, global climate change, statistics, and fuzzy logic sciences. His articles ranked with 1st, 4th, 6th, and 8th ranks in the top 25 article lists. He introduced to two new methods (SMRGT and ZFT) and brought four concepts (“climatic identity”, “time coefficient”, “stream coefficient”, and “ideal velocity”) into literature. The first methodology is developed to automatically construct membership functions and generate fuzzy rules, whereas the second one proposed for determining the water losses in drinking water – networks. The first concept related to the global climate change. The next two of them are used for modeling monthly mean flow in poorly gauged basins. The last one is a new concept for cross – sectional velocity distribution of any pipe or open channel flow.
He was supported with Overseas Fellowship by British Hydrological Society (BHS) and IRD to attend conferences namely British Hydrological Society and Balkan Water Observation and Information System (BALWOIS) respectively, in 2004. He has been invited to about 200 scientific meeting held in more than 20 countries (i.e. USA, Russia, Australia, UK, China, India, Spain, Algeria, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Republic of South Africa, and Egypt etc.). He invited to an International Conference held in USA in 2013 and to Climate and Environmental Physics Laboratory of Natural Science Institute, Civil Engineering Department, and Turkish Language and Literary Department of Ural Federal University for serial seminars and short courses in 2014. Similarly, he has been invited to Republic of South Africa in 2018 for consultancy on both water resources and drought, for presenting serial seminars, and giving short courses at University of Free State.
He held the Workshop on Water Sciences and their Application (SUBIC 2021), National Hydrology Congress (UHK 2017) and National Symposium on Modern Methods in Science (BMYS 2010) as the chair of the meetings. He organized and/or placed in the list of scientific and organizing committees of numerous national and international scientific meetings. He has worked as reviewer for more than 30 international journals indexed by SCI. He has also worked as consultant, reviewer, and panelist for the projects applied to the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) and to the many other institutions. He has directed numerous masters and doctoral thesis. He was responsible to sub-tile namely “Training, Knowledge and Capacity Building Strategies” under 6th Theme at the 5th World Water Forum held in Istanbul in 2009.
He rewarded two times Academic Performance Award and one of master's thesis he supervised was deemed worthy of the “Best Thesis Award” in the "Thesis Award Contributing to Environment, Health, Economy and Sustainable Development" category in 2022.

Prof. Dr. Bülent VEREP, who is working in the Department of Basic Sciences, Marine Biology, Faculty of Fisheries, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University, was born in Trabzon in 1971, graduated from Trabzon High School in 1987, and graduated from KTÜ Sürmene Faculty of Marine Sciences, Fisheries Technology Engineering Program in 1992, and received the title of engineer. In 1995, he completed his postgraduate studies titled "Environmental Forces Affecting Sea Cages" and became a Fisheries Engineer. Afterwards, he completed his doctorate studies in 1999 with his study titled "A Study on the Evaluation of the Hydrographic Characteristics of Uzungöl in Terms of Fisheries and Recreation" and became a Fisheries Doctor. In 2007, he passed the Associate Professorship exams held by the Interuniversity Board and received the title of Associate Professor.
Prof. Dr. Bülent VEREP has generally continued his academic activities in the fields of Marine and Inland Water Biology, water quality and pollution, environmental problems affecting aquatic ecosystems and aquatic toxicology. He has taken part in scientific research and social projects at national and international levels as an executive and researcher.
V. S. Ozgur Kirca is a Professor of Hydraulics and Coastal Engineering at Istanbul Technical University, Department of Civil Engineering. His fields of expertise cover seabed–flow–structure interaction, turbulent processes, sediment transport and morphodynamics, physical and numerical modelling of coastal/hydraulic processes, design and assessment of coastal protection structures, statistical and spectral wave analysis.
He has authored and co-authored over 120 scientific papers, and has been involved in many international and national research programs, including projects under EU-FP7, EU-Horizon 2020, and EU-Horizon programmes. He worked as a post-doctoral researcher in Technical University of Denmark (2009-2011). He received “2014’s Outstanding Reviewer Award” from ASCE Journal of Waterway, Port, Coastal, and Ocean Engineering.
Ozgur Kirca has been actively involved in consulting for the industry for over 20 years in different aspects of Coastal, Offshore and Hydraulic Engineering. He has done consultancy work in projects in many countries including Azerbaijan, Belgium, Cyprus, France, Germany, Georgia, Jordan, Libya, Namibia, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Turkey, and Turkmenistan.
I have worked across the water and environmental sector with a focus on modelling water waves in open channels and closed conduits, and on applying artificial intelligence, chaos and catastrophe theory, and other forms of timeseries analysis. My previous roles include serving as Research Program Manager at the National Flood Warning Centre of the Environment Agency (2000–04), holding academic visitor status at Oxford University (2000–06), and acting as Visiting Professor at the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction (2025).
My current topical research integrates evolutionary science, systems science and complexity science toward a model of the Generalised Theory of Evolution (GTEv). Drawing on UK and international experience in water systems, I examine evolutionary transitions across diverse environmental domains. This research builds on my long‑standing work on sequences, including the triangularisation of products of two or more sequences, which reveals counterintuitive mathematical structures and points to missing links that motivate sequence thinking and kernelic thinking.
Dr. Ahmed Taresh Ejel was born in 1979 in Al-Qadisiyah, Iraq. He completed his bachelor's at Kufa University, Iraq . Master's degree from South Ural State University in Russia and doctoral degrees from Urmia University in Iran. He has published articles in journals and conferences , and is a reviewer of reputable scientific journals in his field. He is currently a PHD - Lecturer at University of Al-Qadisiyah in Iraq .
Mohammad Bagherzadeh was born in 1992 in Khoy, northwest Iran. Currently, he is a PhD candidate in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water & Hydraulic Structures at Urmia University, Iran, where he was recognized as the Outstanding PhD Student at the university in 2025. His doctoral research focuses on open-channel hydraulics, scour and sediment transport downstream of hydraulic structures, and the application of advanced soft computing techniques for hydraulic modeling and prediction. In addition to his research activities, Dr. Bagherzadeh serves as an adjunct lecturer at Urmia University, delivering courses related to Water & Hydraulic Structures Engineering
I am a researcher with a passion for ecohydrology and soil physics. I am committed to improving our view of soil in the terrestrial ecosystem through innovative solutions and collaborative teamwork. I have experience in data science and modeling of soils and ecosystems. I have experience using various data in my research, from laboratory to field experiments, as well as Earth observation (remote sensing and geospatial and geospatial-temporal data). 9 Aralık 1990 tarihinde Ankara'da doğdum eğitim öğrenim sürecime bu şehirde başladıktan sonra Erzincan ilinde devam ederek Erzincan Anadolu Lisesi'nden mezun oldum. Yeni bilgiler öğrenmek, öğrendiğimin üstüne yeni bilgiler katmak ve iyi bir kariyere ulaşmak için severek başladığım inşaat mühendisliği ve uluslararası ilişkiler bölümünü (açık öğretim) 2014 yılı itibari tamamladım. Daha sonrasında kendime ve kariyerime katkı sağlayacağına inandığım İngilizce ve Rusça dillerini öğrenmek için kurslara katıldım. Bu şekilde iyi seviyede İngilizce okuma ve yazma yeteneği ile orta seviyede konuşma yeteneğine sahip oldum ayrıca temel seviye Rusça okuma ve yazma bilgisine mazhar oldum. Yine bu dönemde bilgisayar işletmenliği sertifikası aldım, Autocad, SAP200 ve 3D Max gibi kurslarına katılarak bu programları kullanabilecek bilgileri edindim. Ayrıca bireysel olarak ekonomi üzerine okumalar yaptım ve Excel VBA kullanımı hakkında çalıştım. Sonrasında 2016 yılında AB destekli (PYEIS) TRH 1.2.PYEIS/P-03/712 numaralı Okuldan Hayata projesine ve KOSGEB Uygulamalı Girişimcilik Eğitimine katıldım. Aynı yıl başladığım yüksek lisans eğitimimi Sera Tipi Hafif Çelik Konstrüksiyon Yapılarda Eleman Ve Birleşimlerin Tasarımı isimli tezimle 2019 yılında tamamladım. Yüksek lisans sürecimde ders dönemini tamamladıktan sonra Epsilon İnşaat Dumlu Şantiyesi'nde teknik ofis mühendisi olarak çalıştım ve halihazırda 2021 yılından itibaren Kuzeydoğu Anadolu Kalkınma Ajansı'nda uzman olarak çalışmaktayım. 2020 yılında Trabzon Ticaret Odası Dış Ticaret İstihbarat Elemanı eğitimini başarıyla tamamladıktan sonra doktora eğitimime Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Üniversitesi’nde başladım. 2025 yılı itibarıyla tez aşamasında olduğum doktora eğimim devam etmektedir.

After completing his primary and secondary education in Rize, he started his undergraduate education in 1992 at Istanbul Technical University, Sakarya Faculty of Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering completed it in 1996. He received his master's degree in Civil Engineering from Sakarya University in 1998 and worked as a field engineer and construction manager in various infrastructure constructions until 2015. Since this date, he has been working as a lecturer at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University. Since 2019, he has been continuing his education in the PhD program at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University, Department of Civil Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Veli SÜME. He conducts field studies on coastal structures and sand shallowing under the influence of waves. He is married with 3 children. He is a member of the Chamber of Civil Engineers of Türkiye.

Cüneyt Kaya is a fish taxonomist at the Faculty of Fisheries at Recep Tayyip Erdogan University in Rize, Türkiye. Freshwater fishes have always been his main academic and personal interest, and he has always been motivated to pursue a career working with them. His main interests are the conservation, diversity, and distribution of freshwater fishes. His research also focuses on the effects of ecological change, including invasive species and habitat change, on aquatic fauna. During his career, he has published more than 80 peer-reviewed scientific papers and described 50 new species of freshwater fishes.
