Bu çalışmada William Shakespeare’in 91. Sone’sinin beş çevirisi Antoine Berman’ın biçim bozucu eğilimleri çerçevesinde incelenmiştir. Çalışmada Shakespeare’in sonesi “KM”, François Victor Hugo’nun çevirisi “EM-1”, Muallim Nâci’nin çevirisi “EM-2”, Mehmed Nâdir’in çevirisi “EM-3”, Saadet Bozkurt ve Bülent Bozkurt’un çevirisi “EM-4”, Talât Sait Halman’ın çevirisi ise “EM-5” olarak gösterilmiştir. 91.
In this study, five translations of William Shakespeare’s Sonnet 91 were examined within the framework of Antoine Berman’s deforming tendencies. In the study, Shakespeare’s sonnet is labelled as “ST”, François Victor Hugo’s translation as “TT-1”, Muallim Nâci’s translation as “TT-2”, Mehmed Nâdir’s translation as “TT-3”, Saadet and Bülent Bozkurt’s translation as “TT-4”, and Talât Sait Halman’s translation as “TT-5”. Sonnet 91 was transfered as prose into TT-1, TT-2 and TT-3, and as poetry into TT-4 and TT-5. It was determined that TT-1, TT-4 and TT-5 were translated directly from English, while TT-2 and TT-3 were translated from intermediate language. After providing information about Berman’s tendencies, in the analysis section, ST and TTs were presented in a table and examples of tendencies in TTs were identified. Since the poem was translated as prose, formal tendencies were identified in the first three TTs and semantic tendencies were identified in all TTs. The least tendency was seen in TT-1 and the most tendency was seen in TT-2 and TT-3. While no examples were found for some tendencies, the most common tendencies were rationalization and extension. At the end of the study, it was revealed that deforming tendencies cannot be avoided in literary translation.
