Primary pure carcinoid tumor of the ovary: Case report

Abstract

A pelvic mass is typically evident. A 65-year old woman was admitted to the hospital because of abnormal uterine bleeding. Pelvic magnetic resonance and abdominal ultrasonography disclosed a 40x35x35mm mass of the left ovary.Total hysterectomy + bilateral alpingo-oophorectqmy and appendectomy were performed.Pathologic evaluation revealed that the left ovarian mass was a pure carcinoid tumor. She is alive 3 years after surgery and has had no evidence of tumor recurrence or carcinoid syndrome. This rare case of a ovarian carcinoid tumor is reported and discussed with immunohistochemical findings.

Overin primer 'Pure' karsinoid tümörü: Olgu sunumu

Abstract

Olgumuz 65 yaşında postmenopozal hasta olup anormal utérin kanama nedeni ile kadın doğum polikliniğine başvurmuştur. Hastanın pelvik manyetik rezonans (MR) tetkikinde 40x35x35 mm ölçülerinde sol adneksiyal kitle saptanarak total abdominal histerektomi + bilateral salpingoooferektomi ve apendektomi yapılmıştır. Histopatolojik incelemede sol overde "pure" karsinoid tümör tespit edilmiştir.Olgumuz çok nadir görülmesi ve karsinoid sendrom bulgularının eşlik etmemesi nedeniyle immunohistokimyasal ve histopatolojik bulgularla sunulmuştur.
