Tasarım Tabanlı Araştırmayı Anlamak: Eşanlamlı Kullanılan Araştırma Türleriyle Kavramsal Ayrımlar

Öz

Tasarım tabanlı araştırmalar (TTA), kuram, uygulama ve tasarım süreçlerinin birbirini desteklediği ve eğitim ortamlarında yenilikçi çözümler sunmayı amaçlayan bir yaklaşım olarak öne çıkmaktadır. Bu araştırmalar eğitim sürecinin iyileştirilmesine ve uygulamaya dayalı çözümler geliştirilmesine katkı sağlamaktadır. TTA, sadece mevcut kuramları test etmek yerine, otantik eğitim ortamlarında yenilikleri deneyerek ve bu yeniliklerden yapılan çıkarımlarla kuramsal ve uygulamalı bilgiler oluşturarak eğitimsel değişimlere rehberlik etmektedir. Tasarım tabanlı araştırmalar, alanyazında genellikle tasarım deneyleri (design experimentation), geliştirme araştırması (development research), gelişimsel araştırma (developmental research), eylem araştırması (action research) ve biçimlendirici araştırma (formative research) gibi araştırma türleriyle eşanlamlı olarak kullanılmaktadır. Bu kapsamdabu çalışmada tasarım tabanlı araştırmanın tanımı yapılarak diğer araştırma türleriyle farkları ele alınmakta, yinelemeli (iteratif) doğası ve süreci detaylandırılmaktadır. Ayrıca, eğitim teknolojileriyle desteklenen öğrenme ortamlarında tasarım tabanlı araştırmaların nasıl uygulanabileceği ve bu süreçlerin eğitimdeki dönüşüme nasıl katkı sağladığı da tartışılmaktadır. Son olarak, kullanımı giderek yaygınlaşan tasarım tabanlı araştırmaların etkili şekilde uygulanabilmesi için öneriler sunulmaktadır. Bununla birlikte, araştırmacı ve uygulayıcıların iş birliği yapmasının, sürecin sistematik olarak belgelenmesinin ve elde edilen bulguların şeffaf, doğru, güvenilir ve detaylı bir şekilde raporlanmasının önemi vurgulanmaktadır.

Understanding Design-Based Research: Conceptual Distinctions Among Research Types Used Synonymously

Öz

Design-based research (DBR) is an approach in which theory, practice, and design processes support one another and aim to offer innovative solutions in educational settings. These studies contribute to the improvement of the educational process and the development of practical solutions. DBR does not only test existing theories, but also guides educational change by trying out innovations in authentic learning environments and generating theoretical and practical knowledge from these experiences.In the literature, design-based research is often used synonymously with research types such as design experiment, development research, developmental research, action research, and formative research. Within this scope, the present study defines design-based research, highlights its differences from other research types, and elaborates on its iterative nature and process. Furthermore, the application of DBR in technology-enhanced learning environments and its contribution to educational transformation are also discussed. Finally, the study offers suggestions for the effective implementation of DBR, which is becoming increasingly widespread. Moreover, the importance of fostering collaboration between researchers and practitioners, ensuring systematic documentation of the process, and reporting findings in a transparent, accurate, reliable, and detailed manner is strongly emphasized.
