Bibliometric Analysis of Research Literature on Pesticide Residue Removal in Strawberry

In recent years, some studies have focused on various conventional and technological methods for reducing pesticide residues in strawberry. However, despite the increasing number of publications in this field, a comprehensive evaluation of research trends, thematic shifts, and knowledge gaps remains limited. In this study, research articles on pesticide residue removal from strawberry were systematically evaluated, and a bibliometric analysis was conducted. This study is among the first bibliometric analyses specifically focusing on pesticide residue removal in strawberry. As a result of the search conducted in the Web of Science database, a total of 124 research articles on pesticide removal in strawberry were identified. These studies were analyzed in terms of keyword relationships, author collaborations, thematic classifications, and the most studied topics by year. The results indicate that the research field initially focused on the development of analytical methods and residue detection, then shifted toward studies on residue behavior and risk assessment, and more recently has concentrated on removal technologies and sustainability-oriented approaches. In recent years, plasma-based treatments, hybrid applications, and biological methods have been increasingly investigated. In contrast, no studies were found in areas such as mechanistic investigations, optimization of combined treatments, scale-up processes, and their effects on food quality. These findings highlight the need for more integrated, sustainable, and application-oriented approaches to effectively reduce pesticide residues in strawberry.
