Öz

Son yıllarda uluslararası ilişkiler dünyasının terörizm, çevre kirliliği, etnik-siyasi-mezhep içerikli lokal çatışmalar, enerji jeopolitiği gibi yeni çalışma alanları ile şekillendiği söylenebilir. İşte bu alanların etkin olduğu bölgelerden biri olan Arktik Bölge, son yüzyıllık süreç boyunca gittikçe artan bir öneme sahip olmuştur. Bölgenin fosil yakıt potansiyelinin keşfedilmesinin yanı sıra, deniz ulaşımı, stratejik üs bulundurma, maden ve deniz ürünleri çeşitliliği ve bilimsel faaliyetlerin yürütülmesi gibi günümüz devletlerin çıkar algılamaları içerisinde değerlendirilebilecek bu tür imkanlara sahip olması, Arktik Bölge’de bir siyasal ve hukuki egemenlik mücadelesine neden olmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Arktik Bölge’deki yüzyıllık mücadelenin enerji jeopolitiği, devletlerin farklı politik algılamaları ve egemenlik tartışmaları bağlamında değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma, karşılıklı bağımlılık perspektifiyle ve içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılarak bölgede aktörler arası işbirliği sürecinin etkili olduğu iddiasıyla ile nihayete erdirilmiştir.
