Disruption or Transformation? A Bibliometric Study of Generative AI in Education
Öz
The aim of this research is to examine studies in the fields of generative artificial intelligence and education using bibliometric analysis. Generative artificial intelligence, one of the innovations offered by artificial intelligence, provides users with original content in areas such as images, sound, and text. These services have also been the subject of educational research, and their effects on education have been examined by researchers. Bibliometric analysis was used as a research method. Bibliometric analysis helps to reveal trends in research conducted in selected fields, such as publication year, keywords used, and journals in which the research was published, and provides information about the research conducted. The Web of Science (WoS) database was used to examine research in the fields of generative artificial intelligence and education. In the research conducted on WoS, the keywords "Generative Artificial Intelligence" and "Education" were used for the analysis. According to the research results, 1.333 articles were accessed. It was observed that the research started in 2022. The research included 4.671 authors, the research received 49.399 citations, and 3.818 keywords were used in the research. It was seen that the research was most frequently published in the journal Education and Information Technologies. Based on the results obtained, it can be stated that the number of educational materials developed using generative artificial intelligence for different subjects will increase, and studies in this field will become more widespread.
