Öz

The opinions of the students for the science are related to meet their needs and expectations. If the content The study that seeks the answer to the question what the elementary school students think about science course, is aimed to find out the level of the their expectations. This study was applied to the 321 students attending 6th , 7th, and 8th Key Words: Science education, viewpoint to science, scientific thinking, elementary school in four different schools in the 2003-2004 school year. The questionnaire technique was used to obtain the data. Likert scale which consists of 30 questions was analyzed by comparing of the groups. The result of the research indicates that the interest of the girls to the science course is higher than the boys. It is also stated that the level of the students attending to the schools in the city center is higher than the ones in the out skirt

Öz

İlköğretim öğrencilerinin fen bilgisi hakkında ne düşündükleri sorusunun cevabını araştıran bu çalışma, öğrencilerin beklentilerinin karşılanma düzeyini ortaya çıkarmayı amaçlamaktadır. Araştırma, 2003-2004 eğitim-öğretim yılında dört farklı ilköğretim 6, 7 ve 8. sınıfta fen bilgisi dersini alan 321 öğrenciye uygulanmıştır. Örneklemden veri toplamak için anket tekniği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada, örneklemden verilerin toplanması için 30 sorudan oluşan likert ölçek kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler gruplar arası karşılaştırmalarla analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sunucunda, kız öğrencilerin fen bilgisine bakış açısının erkek öğrencilere göre daha olumlu olduğu belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, şehir merkezi dışındaki okulda eğitim gören öğrencilerin fen bilgisine bakış açılarının şehir merkezindeki öğrencilere göre daha düşük düzeyde olduğu belirlenmiştir.
