This study introduces “action research”. Teachers, administrators, and students, who are the stakeholders of education, personally take part in action research, which allows making arrangements for improvement or transformation. Action research is a systematic process that allows getting to know the participants through practices in their social environments and is defined as a method of individual examination based on collaboration in educational practices. This study presents information about the history, philosophy, models, and characteristics of action research in the light of the studies in the literature. Also, detailed information is provided about its structure in educational research. The study also tries to explain the benefits action research brings to teachers, students, and administrators, who are the stakeholders of education. Furthermore, the study mentions how action research can be used within attempts to solve real-life problems, highlights the points to be considered by its implementer, and states its benefits and limitations.
