Post-Earthquake Psychosocial Adjustment: A Relational Analysis Between Disaster Resilience, Perceived Social Support and Life Satisfaction

Öz

This study aims to examine the mediating role of perceived social support in the relationship between individual disaster resilience and life satisfaction among earthquake survivors. The research hypotheses, which were developed within the framework of the relevant literature, were tested using the data obtained from 418 earthquake survivors living in the earthquake zone. The data were analyzed using SPSS. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, and the PROCESS macro (Model 4) were used to test the mediation model. The findings show that individual disaster resilience has direct and indirect effects on life satisfaction and that perceived social support plays a partial mediating role in this relationship. Accordingly, perceived social support is a critical mechanism through which individual disaster resilience enhances life satisfaction. The findings show that intrinsic resilience and extrinsic support systems are two important factors contributing to individuals’ life satisfaction in the post-earthquake period. Therefore, interventions should focus on a holistic approach that strengthens both individual psychological capacities and community-based support networks.
