Iğdır Lisesi’nden mezun oldu. 1979 yılında Hacettepe Üniversitesi Fen Fakültesi Biyoloji Bölümü’nde üniversite eğitimine başladı. 1 yıl İngilizce hazırlık sınıfında okudu ve Haziran 1984'de mezun oldu. 1985 yılında, Trakya Üniversitesi Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi Biyoloji Bölümü’ne araştırma görevlisi olarak atandı. 1987 yılında yüksek lisans, 1992 yılında ise doktora eğitimini tamamladı. 1993’de Trakya Üniversitesi Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi Biyoloji Bölümü'ne Yardımcı Doçent (Şimdiki karşılığı: Dr. Öğretim Üyesi) olarak atandı. 1996’da Biyoloji (anahtar kelime: mikrobiyoloji) dalında Doçent ünvanı aldı, 2002 yılında ise Prof. Dr. kadrosuna atandı. 2004’de Trakya Üniversitesi Edirne Meslek Yüksek Okulu (MYO) Müdürü oldu, Okulun adı 2006’da değiştikten sonra aynı tarihte Trakya Üniversitesi Edirne Teknik Bilimler MYO’na müdür olarak atandı. Bu görevi 2008’e kadar sürdü. 2009-2011 yılları arasında 2 yıl boyunca Trakya Üniversitesi Fen Fakültesi Biyoloji Bölümü Başkanlığı, 18 Kasım 2011 - 6 Ağustos 2012 arasında ise Trakya Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü Müdürlüğü yaptı. Trakya Üniversitesi Akademik Değerlendirme ve Kalite Kontrol Komisyonu, Etik Kurul komisyonu, Senato üyeliği, Kanun Tüzük, Akademik Teşvik ve Kalite Komisyonu Araştırma ve Geliştirme Çalışma Grubu Komisyonları üyeliklerinde bulundu. 2004 yılından itibaren ÜAK tarafından yapılan doçentlik jürilerinde görev almaya başladı. Ekim 2023’de Trakya Üniversitesi Rektörlüğü Araştırma Dekanı oldu.
27 projede görev almıştır (1 AB Projesi yardımcı araştırıcı, 1 Devlet Planlama Teşkilatı yardımcı araştırıcı, 1 TÜBİTAK 1001 yürütücü, 3 TÜBİTAK 1001 yardımcı araştırıcı, 12 BAP yürütücülüğü, 10 BAP yardımcı araştırıcı). Bu projelerden biri olan ve Avrupa Birliği tarafından desteklenen, 26 ülkeden 45 kuruluşun yer aldığı, kısaca PESI (A Pan-European Species directories Infrastructure) adıyla bilinen ve 2008-2011 yıllarında arasında devam eden projede görev aldı, Link: Bu projeden çıkan 52 sayfalık yayın için link: . 3 yıl süreli (2012-2015) TÜBİTAK 1001 Projesi’nde yürütücü, Haziran 2018'de biten ve 3 yıl süreli başka bir TÜBİTAK 1001 projesinde araştırmacı olarak görev yaptı. Ayrıca 2018'de başlayan ve 3 yıl süreli başka bir TÜBİTAK 1001 projesinde ise araştırmacı olarak görev aldı, proje Mart 2022'de tamamlandı. 2 Mart 2023’de kabul edilen yeni bir TÜBİTAK 1001 projesinde araştırmacı olarak görevi mevcuttur. 2006 yılından itibaren TÜBİTAK’a sunulan birçok proje için panelistlik ve 2021’de yine TÜBİTAK'a sunulan 2 proje için moderatörlük yaptı.
36 yayını uluslararası dergilerde (26 tam makale ve 3 diğer tip makale SCI-Exp. kapsamında; 7 makale makale diğer uluslararası indeksler kapsamında), 55 tanesi ise ulusal dergilerde yayınlandı. 24'ü uluslararası ve 30'u da ulusal olmak üzere toplam 54 kongre/sempozyum bildirisi sundu. Web of Science kapsamındaki Türkiye kaynaklı dergiler ile ilgili birçok yayın yaptı.
Aspergillus, Penicillium, Gliocladium, Talaromyces, Eupenicillium, Neosartorya, Paecilomyces, Eurotium, Emericella, Fusarium, Alternaria ve Cladosporium gibi tıbbi, tarımsal ve endüstriyel önemi olan fungal cinslerin Türkiye’de ilk defa tür listelerini (Kontrol listeleri-checklist) yayınladı. 5 bilimsel kitapta yazar olarak yer aldı:
1. Aeromikrobiyoloji konusunda doktora danışmanlığını yaptığı Dr. Gülay Giray ile birlikte “Aeromikrobiyoloji” başlıklı kitabı 2019’da yayınlandı.
2. Türkiye'den kaydı verilen tüm endüstriyel mikrofungusların listesinin çıkarılmasında öncülük ettiği, 3 editör arasında yer aldığı ve 40 yazarın görev aldığı “Türkiye Mantarları Listesi” başlıklı kitap, Aralık 2020’de yayınlandı (http://satis.ang.org.tr/).
3. 2021’de 28 yazarın görev aldığı “Türkiye Arke ve Bakterileri Listesi” (Checklist of Archaea and Bacteria of Turkey) kitabının 4 editörü arasında yer aldı ve bu kitap Aralık 2021’de yayınlandı. Link: https://satis.ang.org.tr/urun/turkiye-arke-ve-bakterileri-listesi/.
4. 2022’de editörleri arasında yer aldığı “Genel Mikoloji” isimli kitabı yayınlandı, bu kitapta ayrıca 3 bölümde yazar olarak yer aldı. Kitabın ikinci baskısının 2024’de yapılması planlanmaktadır.
5. 2023’de yayınlanan “Fungal Biyoteknoloji Uygulamaları” isimli kitabın editörleri arasında yer aldı ve bu kitapta ayrıca “Adli Mikoloji” bölümünü yazdı: Link: . Bu kitabın ikinci kısmının 2024’de yayınlanması planlanmakta ve bu kitapta yazar olarak yer alacağı bir bölümün yazılmasına da devam edilmektedir.
Ayrıca biri bilimsel yayıncılık ve diğerleri genellikle Mikrobiyoloji konuları ile ilgili 9 kitap bölümünde yazar olarak yer aldı.
10 Eylül 2024 tarihi itibariyle Web of Science kapsamındaki yayınlarının h indeks değeri 14’dür (h indeks 14 olmasının anlamı: SCI-Exp. kapsamındaki dergilerde yayınlanan 14 makalenin herbiri en az 14 veya daha fazla atıf almıştır anlamına gelir). Web of Science'deki kapsamındaki yayınları, 803'ü başkaları tarafından yapılan toplam 838 atıf almıştır, 2001-2024 yılları arasındaki yıllık ortalama atıf sayısı ise 37.26’dır (Kaynak: Clarivate Analytics Web of Science Veritabanı, erişim: 10.9.2024). Trakya Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Dergisi’nin (yeni adı: Trakya University Journal of Natural Sciences; ESCI, TR Dizin) 2 yıl (Kasım 2002-Eylül 2004) editörlüğünü yaptı. Turkish Journal of Botany (SCI-Exp. TÜBİTAK, 2001-2008; 2014-), Acta Medica Alanya (Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat Üniv., TR Dizin, 2017-), European Journal of Biology (İstanbul Üniv., Eski Adı: IUFS Journal of Biology, Clarivate Analytics Zool. Record, SCOPUS, 2008-), Mantar Dergisi-The Journal of Fungus (Selçuk Üniv., TR Dizin, 2010-) dergilerinde Editoriyal Kurul, Journal of Basic Microbiology (SCI-Almanya 1.1.2007-)’de ise Danışma Kurulu üyesidir. 36 farklı bilimsel dergiye sunulan bazı makaleler için hakemlik yaptı. 2013 yılından beri Turkish Journal of Botany için aralıklarla makale editörlüğü yapmaktadır. Biten 16 Yüksek Lisans ve 5 Dr tezi için asıl danışmanlık, biten bir Dr tezi (İstanbul Üniversitesi Orman Fakültesi) için ise yardımcı danışmanlık yapmıştır. Halen 1 doktora öğrencisi (tez aşaması) ve 1 Yüksek Lisans öğrencisi (ders aşaması) için danışmanlığı devam etmektedir. Doktora danışmanlığı yaptığı öğrencilerinden halen çeşitli üniversitelerde olmak üzere ikisi Prof. Dr., ikisi Doç. Dr., biri Dr. Öğretim Üyesi olarak ve diğeri ise Tıp Fakültesi Mikrobiyoloji Laboratuvarında görevini sürdürmektedir.
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Asan, Mikoloji alanında araştırmalar yapmaktadır; bu çalışmalar özellikle atmosfer mikrobiyolojisi üzerinde yoğunlaşmış, bu alandaki çalışmaların Türkiye’de yaygınlaşmasına katkı yapmıştır. İlki Eylül 2014'de Erzurum Teknik Üniversitesi'nde, ikincisi Eylül 2015'de Yeditepe Üniversitesi'nde düzenlenen Ulusal Mikoloji Günleri 1. ve 2. Sempozyumları ve birincisi 2017’de Manisa’da, dördüncüsü ise 2024’de Çanakkale’de yapılan “4th International Euroasia Mycology Congress”de onursal başkanlık yapmış ve mikolojinin tüm alanlarını kapsayan bu bilimsel toplantıların başlatılmasına öncülük etmiştir. Onursal başkanlık yaptığı mikoloji ile ilgili bu toplantılardan 3.sü ise, "1st International Euroasia Mycology Congress" adıyla 3-5 Temmuz 2017'de Manisa Celal Bayar Üniversitesi'nde yapılmıştır. Eylül 2019'da Konya'da yapılan bu kongrelerin dördüncüsünde ise organizasyon komitesinde görev almıştır. Bu kongrelerin beşincisi 2022 yılında Van Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesi’nde yapılmış, onursal başkanlığını yaptığı bu kongrelerin altıncısı ise 3-5 Eylül 2024’de "4th International Euroasia Mycology Congress" ismiyle Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Üniversitesi’nde yapılmıştır. Bu kongreler kapsamında 7. Kongre ise 2026’da Edirne Trakya Üniversitesi’nde yapılacaktır.
2017'de, “Sesli E, Vizzini A. Two new Rhodocybe species (sect. Rufobrunnea, Entolomataceae) from the East Black Sea coast of Turkey. Turkish Journal of Botany. 41 (2): 200-210, 2017”, başlıklı yayında dünya için 2 yeni mantar türünün keşfedildiği yazılmış ve türlerden birine, Türkiye’de mikoloji biliminin gelişimine yaptığı katkılarından dolayı Prof. Dr. Ahmet ASAN’nin adı verilmiştir: (Yeni türün adı: Rhodocybe asanii). She has published more than 60 research publications, 30 popular articles in Polish and foreign. She is a member of several scientific societies. She has been awarded several awards: grade I team from HM Rector the Academy of Agriculture in Lublin –2000, grade II team from HM Rector the University of Life Sciences in Lublin –2009, individual grade I from HM Rector the University of Life Sciences for scientific activity in the years 2010-2012 –2014, individual grade II from HM Rector the University of Life Sciences for scientific activity in the years 2014-2016 –2017. She was co-organizer and member of Scientific Board 1st Eurasian Mycological Congress 3-5.07.2016, Manisa, Turkey and XIII Congress of Ecology and Environment with International Participation 12-15.09.2017, Edirne, Turkey. She serves as a referee for 15 international journals and is a member of editorial board of 2 national and international journals. Since 2014 she cooperate with Bulgarian Institute of Genetics in Sofia, since 2015 with Department of Agriculture, University of Naples Federico II, Portici and Institute for Sustainable Plant Protection (IPSP)/ National Research Council (CNR)Portici, Italy, since 2015 with Department of Biology Trakya University, Edirne, Turkey. Her research activities are aimed at: - Phoma sensu lato group of fungi, endophytic fungi, fungal symbiont and their relationships with gall midges, mutualistic interactions between the gall causing species of dipterans from Asphondylia genus (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) and on fungi developing in the inner wall of galls, etiology and epidemiology of infectious diseases of MAPs (medicinal and aromatic plants), with special regards of new and emerging infectious diseases (EIDs).

I am an Associate Professor of Medical Mycology in the Department of Medical Parasitology and Mycology and the Allergy Research Center at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (MUMS). I teach Medical Mycology to MSc students, medical students, and residents, and I am also actively engaged in research at MUMS.

I received my PhD from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, with a focus on the diagnosis of aspergillosis using real-time PCR and nested PCR. My MSc degree was obtained at Tarbiat Modares University, where my research emphasized antifungal susceptibility testing of Candida species.

Prof. Dr. Younes Rezaee Danesh is the faculy member at the Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture, Urmia University, Iran. He had several visiting research periods in different countries in different years. He was also worked at the Soil, Fertilizer and Water Resources Central Research Institute in Ankara, Turkey as a leader of a HORIZON 2020 project funded by the EU during the years 2018-2021, and now as the visiting scientist on a project funded by TUBITAK in Van, Turkey from January 2022. His main scientific interests are mycology, plant pathology, and biological control with a special focus on symbiotic (mycorrhiza-, and mycorrhiza-like) as well as plant growth promoting fungi, and special emphasis on their application as eco-friendly bio-fertilizers and bio-stimulators in plants and for inducing plant resistance against different abiotic and biotic stresses. He had a series of international collaborations with Iranian, Russian, Finnish, US, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Indian, Thai, Austrian, Turkish, and Hungarian partners. He has a list of highly ranked international scientific publications with more than 600 citations. He is also involved as tne permanent member in different national and international scientific societies. He is also acting as a member of the Editorial Board in several Journals. During the scientific career, he received numerous awards as the Best Researcher and Best Scientist.

Yusufjon Gafforov
Prof. Dr. Yusufjon GAFFOROV New Uzbekistan University

Dr. Yusufjon Gafforov is professor in the New Uzbekistan University. He holds a PhD in Biology from the Institute of Botany, Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences and an MSc in Common Biology from Namangan State University, Uzbekistan. His research interests focus mainly on microbiome, mycology, phytopathology, ethnobiology, plant protection and molecular biology. He conducted postdoctoral studies at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala, Sweden, at the Institute of Botany, Sao Paulo, Brazil, at the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China, as well as than at Ibaraki University, Mito, Japan. Moreover, he has won prestigious fellowships such as the President's International Fellowship for Visiting Professors (PIFI) from the Chinese Academy of Sciences; DAAD, Germany; TWAS-CNPq, Brazil; TWAS-CAS, China, MIF, Japan and OeAD, Austria. He was appointed Uzbekistan's representative to the International Society of Fungal Conservation for Central & Western Asia (2012-2014) and the Asian Mycological Association (2019-2025). He has been appointed as a board member of several organizations such as the International Council for Vine Trunk Diseases, the International Union of Forest Research Organizations, and the International Society for the Conservation of Fungi and the European Mycological Association. He has also led as coordinator and partner several international and local research projects supported by the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan (2015-2017; 2018-2020), the Alliance of International Scientific Organizations, China (2022- 2024), National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation, USA (2003-2007). Dr. Gafforov has held several academic positions as a visiting scientist, including Senckenberg Biodiversity and Climate Research Institute, Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, Germany in 2021, Bio-Resources and Bio-Technology Research Center, Institute of Applied Ecology, CAS, Shenyang, China from 2018 to 2019, and the Institute of Microbiology, University of Innsbruck, Austria from 2015 to 2016, to the Department of Ecology, University of Kassel, Germany in 2013, in 2017, Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany in 2009 and as a visiting researcher at the University of Vienna, Austria from 2005 to 2006.Dr. Gafforov is currently associate editor of Frontiers Fungal Biology, Plant Pathology & Quarantine, Ethnobotany Research and Applications, MycoKing, Studies in Fungi and member of the editorial board of Mycology, and is guest editor of Frontiers in Fungal Biology and co-editor of Frontiers in Cellular and Microbiology of infections. Additionally, he has reviewed several articles in peer-reviewed Fungal Diversity; Studies in Mycology; BMC Microbiology; Frontiers in Microbiology; Frontiers in Fungal Biology; Mycological Progress; Mycoscience; Journal of Fungi; Diversity; Life; Phytotaxa; Mycology; Nova Hedwigia; Biodiversity Data Journal; Mycokeys, Turkish Journal of Botany, Heliyon, Flora. Dr Gafforov has published more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals, books including book chapters. He was editor of book "Ethnobiology of Uzbekistan" which was published by Springer Nature.
