The Evaluation of Curriculum Laboratory Schools from the Viewpoint of Physics Education
Öz
The main aim of the study is to investigate how students evaluate the changes in
physics education brought forward by the laboratory schools.
Survey is the primary method of data collection. The students in Ministry of
Education (MEB) dependent schools which are currently applying various projects of
laboratory schools comprise the population of the study. The sample includes 316 students in
nine different lyceés in Istanbul.
A program evaluation questionnaire which was developed by the researcher himself
has two parts. The first part includes questions about the respondents’ demographic
characteristics. The second part is about the program evaluation which includes questions that
investigate whether the program fulfills its original aims. The frequency & percentage
distributions, The T test and one way ANOVA are the statistical techniques used in reporting
the results.
The findings of the study suggested that the students seemed to have an indecisive
attitude in their evaluation of laboratory schools model. It was observed that the reason for
this is that the students were not informed sufficiently about the program by the school
administrators.
In conclusion, it can be argued that the program has important deficiencies in its
application. It was found out that the theoretical appropriateness of the program could not
have been transferred to the Turkish educational practice adequately, because possibly of the
negative aspects of the educational system and the current financial conditions in Turkiye.
