Okul Öncesi Dönem Çocuklarının Beden Algısı İle Akran İlişkileri Arasındaki İlişkinin İncelenmesi

Öz

Bu araştırmanın temel amacı, okul öncesi dönem çocuklarının beden algısı ile akran ilişkileri arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Bu amaçla, mevcut araştırmada nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden ilişkisel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemi, 2023-2024 eğitim-öğretim yılında Mersin ilinde Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı’na bağlı özel ve devlet anaokullarında eğitim gören 4-6 yaş aralığında 152 çocuktan oluşmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, veriler Kişisel Bilgi Formu, Beden Algısı Ölçeği ve Okul Öncesinde Akran İlişkileri Ölçeği Öğretmen Formu kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Toplanan veriler, SPSS 25 paket programı aracılığıyla analiz edilmiş olup, Bağımsız Örneklemler T Testi, Tek Yönlü Varyans Analizi (ANOVA), korelasyon, basit ve çoklu regresyon analizleri uygulanmıştır.
Araştırma sonucunda, çocukların anne-baba eğitim durumu ve vücut kitle indeksleri (VKİ) ile akran ilişkileri boyutları arasında anlamlı farklılaşma tespit edilmiş olup beden algısı boyutlarında ise yalnızca VKİ arasında anlamlı farklılaşma saptanmıştır. Akran ilişkileri alt boyutlarıyla beden algısı arasında ise beden memnuniyeti boyutunda anlamlı ilişkiye ulaşılmıştır. Akran ilişkilerinin Zorba Çocuk ve Mağdur çocuk alt boyutlarında negatif, Arkadaşlık ve Etkileşim alt boyutunda pozitif bir ilişki elde edilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçları göz önüne alındığında, okul öncesi dönemden itibaren çocukların beden algıları ile ilgili memnuniyetin ev ve okul bağlamında desteklenmesi, onların sosyal, duygusal gelişimlerini olumlu etkileyecektir.

Examining The Relationship Between Body Image And Peer Relationships In Preschool Children

Öz

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between body perception and peer relationships among preschool children. For this purpose, the relational survey model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the present study. The sample consists of 152 children aged 4 to 6 who were enrolled in private and public preschools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in Mersin during the 2023-2024 academic year. In this study, data were collected using the Personal Information Form, the Body Perception Scale, and the Peer Relationships Scale for Preschool Teachers Form. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 25 software package, with Independent Samples T-Test, One-Way ANOVA, correlation, and simple and multiple regression analyses applied.
The results of the study revealed significant differences between the educational status of the parents and the children’s body mass index (BMI) in terms of peer relationship dimensions, with significant differences observed only for BMI in terms of body perception dimensions. A significant relationship was found between body satisfaction and peer relationship sub-dimensions. Negative relationships were identified in the Bully Child and Victim Child sub-dimensions, while positive relationships were observed in the Friendship and Interaction sub-dimension. Considering the research results, supporting children's satisfaction with their body image in the context of home and school starting from the pre-school period will positively affect their social and emotional development.
