THE REFLECTIONS OF POSTMODERN MIND IN THE SYSTEM OF EDUCATION IN TURKEY

Öz

Significant changes have been taking place in the structure and functioning of the education system in our country in recent years. It can also be said that postmodernism is one of the intellectual movements affecting the movement of change. The purpose of the study is to determine a reflection of postmodern mind on the changes in the education system in Turkey. The study is in qualitative character as a model, and in terms of the data collection techniques it has document examining patterns. In this study generally, in general education after the 1990s, changes can not be made in the overall goals of education and objectives of the schools, however, it is concluded that the reflections of the postmodern understanding have been observed on some changes of the structure, processes and mood of educational organizations. Reduction of the hierarchy, decentralization, transfer of authority to lower levels, greater involvement of employees in management, the state of regarding the diversity as richness, the intense efforts to provide the benefits of education for the disadvantaged groups, the constructivist approach that is based on teaching programs, the mind of one typifying the students is renounced but adoption of the understanding of educating individuals that gained skills such as critical thinking, creative thinking and communication skills; attempting to embedding a culture of continuous learning, the use of computer and internet technology in education, giving more emphasis on art and aesthetics are some of these effects.
