VISUAL CULTURE AND MEDIA LITERACY Public Description of Art Education
Abstract
Visual culture is regarded as a fact by clustering contexts of design and
aesthetic. We observe the changes over systems creating scenes and technological
apparatus. The reason fort he said-change is based on the outstanding effects
such as media and its technologies. As a result, media products set up visual
culture and therefore art education and media products need to be considered
together. Literacy in media becomes a vital pedagogy form in the process of
understanding, assessment, commenting, reflecting and reception pertaining to
all potentials of visual culture. Besides this, media and its products, which
means a factor that provides with public sides of art education, owns the potentials
that are likely to influence in art motives in response to tendencies of massculture.
In this context, it might be said that pedagogical fields such as visual literacy,
media literacy, visual culture education, art education for life and media
education forms new ways of contemporary art education by being interacted
civilized with each other.
