In this study, usability of hazelnut husk compost as covering material
for formation lawn areas was investigated. Trial was carried out on twenty
plots according to randomized block experimental design and as five different
covering materials, four replicates. Hazelnut husk compost (HHC) and animal
manure (M) were mixed in various proportions (100 % HHC, 75 % HHC + 25 % M, 50 % HHC + 50 % M, 25 % HHC + 75 % M, 100 %
M) and
was applied as a cover material after seeding. 50 % HHC + 50 % M from prepared cover
materials was found to be more effective in terms of fresh grass yield, dry
grass yield, basal covering and resistance to winter. These did not cause a
statistically significant effect on the nitrogen and phosphorus content of the
lawn plants; potassium content were found in the highest value in 75 % HHC + 25 % M compost and 100 % HHC medias. According
to all findings, hazelnut husk compost were found to be insufficient by itself
for use as cover material in the creation of lawn. 50 % HHC + 50 % M and 75 % HHC + 25 % M provides favorable conditions,
hazelnut husk compost is believed that as the cover material should be
evaluated together with the manure.
