COVID-19 Pandemisinde Hemşirelik Öğrencilerinin Uzaktan Eğitimle Temel Hemşirelik Becerilerini Öğrenme Deneyimleri

Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı, COVID-19 pandemisinde hemşirelik öğrencilerinin uzaktan eğitim ile kazandırılmaya çalışılan temel hemşirelik becerilerini öğrenebilme durumları ve bu süreçte yaşadıkları sorunlara ilişkin görüşlerini belirlemektir. Yöntem: Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2020-2021 güz dönemi öğretim yılında pandemi nedeniyle hemşirelik esasları dersi kapsamında yer alan temel hemşirelik becerilerini uzaktan eğitimle öğrenmek durumunda kalan öğrenciler oluşturmuştur. Bu araştırma durum çalışması olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada veriler yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme yöntemi ile toplanmıştır. Araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu çalışma grubuna e-mail olarak gönderilmiş ve öğrencilerden görüşleri yazılı olarak alınmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında elde edilen verilerin analizinde içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırma sonucunda, öğrencilerin çoğunluğunun pandemi sürecinde temel hemşirelik becerilerini uzaktan eğitimle öğrenemedikleri belirlenmiştir. Öğrenme sürecinde öğrenciler en çok yetersizlik duygusu yaşadıklarını ifade etmişlerdir. Ayrıca öğrencilerin çoğunun uygulamaları eğitimci gözetiminde yapamadıkları için sorun yaşadıkları, bir kısmının internet erişiminden, ev ortamı ve araç-gereçlerden ve bilgisayar başında fazla vakit geçirmekten dolayı sorunlar yaşadıkları ve mesleki açıdan endişe, korku ve güvensizlik hissettikleri tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç: Temel mesleki yeterliliklerin kazandırılabilmesi ve psikomotor becerilerin gerçekleştirilmesinde uzaktan eğitimin tek başına yeterli olmadığı saptanmıştır. Öğrencinin, mesleki uygulamaları etkin şekilde öğrenebilmesi, güvenli şekilde gerçekleştirebilmesi ve olumlu mesleki benlik oluşturabilmesinde uzaktan eğitimin sınırlayıcı olduğu söylenebilir.

ABSTRACT Objective: The aim of this study is to determine nursing students' ability to learn basic nursing skills through distance education during the COVID-19 pandemic and their views on the problems encountered in this process. Methods: The study group consisted of students who had to learn basic nursing skills through distance education in the fall semester of 2020-2021 due to the pandemic. This research was conducted as a case study. Data were collected using a semi-structured interview method. The semi-structured interview form prepared by the researchers was emailed to the study group, and students' responses were obtained in writing. Content analysis was used to analyze the data obtained. Results: The results showed that most students were unable to learn basic nursing skills through distance education during the pandemic. During the learning process, students reported feeling inadequate the most. In addition, it was discovered that most of the students had problems because they could not perform the practices under the supervision of the academician, some of them had problems due to internet access, home environment, equipment, and spending too much time at the computer and they felt professional concern, fear, and insecurity. Conclusion: Results of this study indicate that distance education alone is not sufficient to gain basic professional competencies and execute psychomotor skills. It can be said that distance education is limiting for the student to learn professional practices effectively, perform them safely and create a positive professional self.
