Effect of the Web Based Learning on Primary School Students’ Attitudes

Öz

Web Based Learning Model provides various opportunities for students to study individually without time and space limitations and makes positive effects on students’ learning and success. However, totally on-line courses have some limitations. To overcome these limitations, educational experts offer a mixture of traditional and on-line education together. In this study, the effects of the Web Based Learning on the students’ attitudes toward to science and internet related to chemistry subjects in the primary school 7th, 8th year science teaching program, in Turkey, by mixing two hours traditional teaching followed by a one hour on-line application by using a web page specifically designed for this study. As a result of this study it was found out that the web based learning, when compared to the traditional learning method, has created positive effects on students’ attitude toward to science and using internet.

Web Tabanlı Öğrenmenin İlköğretim Okulu Düzeyindeki Öğrencilerin Tutumuna Etkisi

Öz

Web tabanlı öğrenme zaman ve mekan bağımsızlığını ortadan kaldırarak öğrencilere birçok seçenek sunmakta ve öğrencilerin öğrenmelerine, başarılarına ve davranışlarına pozitif etki yapmaktadır. Fakat sadece çevrimiçi yapılan kurslarda bazı sınırlılıklar ortaya çıkmaktadır. Bu sınırlılıkların üstesinden gelmek için web tabanlı öğrenmenin geleneksel yöntemlerle desteklenmesi gerektiği belirtilmiştir. Bu çalışmada ilköğretim 7 ve 8. sınıf Fen Bilgisi programında bulunan kimya konularına bağlı olarak haftada 2 saat geleneksel, 1 saat bu çalışma için tasarlanan web sayfası kullanılarak Web Tabanlı Öğrenmenin öğrencilerin Fen bilgisine ve internet kullanımına yönelik tutumlarına etkisi araştırılmıştır. Geleneksel yöntemlerle karşılaştırıldığında Web Tabanlı Öğrenmenin öğrencilerin Fen bilgisine ve internet kullanımına yönelik tutumlarına pozitif etkisi olduğu bulunmuştur.
