ALDATMAYI MEŞRULAŞTIRMAK: ALDATMADA AHLAKİ UZAKLAŞMA ÖLÇEĞİNİN TÜRKÇEYE UYARLANMASI VE PSİKOMETRİK AÇIDAN DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Öz

Bu çalışmanın amacı ilişkilerin bitmesinin en yaygın sebeplerinden biri olan aldatma konusunu kişilerin ahlaki olarak nasıl meşrulaştırdığını inceleyen bir ölçeğin Türkçeye uyarlanmasıdır. Bu kapsamda Aldatmada Ahlaki Uzaklaşma Ölçeğinin psikometrik özellikleri incelenmiştir. Çalışmaya romantik bir ilişkisi bulunan, yaş ortalaması 24,68 (S=5,29) olan, 346’sı kadın (%61,8) 214’ü erkek (%38,2) olmak üzere toplam 560 kişi katılmıştır. Ölçeğin faktör yapısı Doğrulayıcı Faktör Analizi ile analiz edilmiştir. Kriter-ilişkili geçerlik incelenmesi için Ahlaki Uzaklaşma Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Cronbach Alfa güvenirlik katsayıları ölçeğin güvenirliğini test etmek amacıyla hesaplanmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular, ölçeğin psikometrik özelliklerinin yeterli düzeyde olduğunu ve geçerlik ile güvenirlik açısından kabul edilebilir sınırlar içerisinde yer aldığını göstermiştir. Çalışmada kadın ve erkek katılımcıların aldatmada ahlaki uzaklaşma stratejileri açısından farklılaştığı görülmüştür. Erkekler aldatmada ahlaki uzaklaşma stratejilerini daha fazla kullanmaktadırlar. Medeni durumu evli katılımcılar ile ilişkisi olan katılımcılar arasında ise aldatmada ahlaki uzaklaşma stratejileri açısından fark bulunmamaktadır. Çalışma sonuçlarının aile ve ilişkilere zarar veren aldatmaya dair meşrulaştırma mekanizmalarının anlaşılmasına katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.

JUSTIFYING INFIDELITY: TURKISH ADAPTATION AND PSYCHOMETRIC VALIDATION OF THE MORAL DISENGAGEMENT IN INFIDELITY SCALE

Öz

The aim of this study is to adapt into Turkish a scale that examines how individuals morally legitimize infidelity, which is known to be one of the most common causes of relationship dissolution. In this context, the psychometric properties of the Infidelity Moral Disengagement Scale were examined. A total of 560 individuals in a romantic relationship participated in the study, including 346 females (61.8%) and 214 males (38.2%), with a mean age of 24.68 (SD = 5.29). The factor structure of the scale was analyzed through Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). For the assessment of criterion-related validity, the Moral Disengagement Scale was used. Cronbach’s Alpha reliability coefficients were calculated to evaluate the internal consistency of the scale. The findings indicated that the psychometric properties of the scale are at an adequate level and fall within acceptable ranges in terms of validity and reliability. The results revealed that female and male participants differed significantly in all subscales of infidelity-related moral disengagement, with men reporting higher levels of disengagement. Between participants whose marital status was married and those who were in a relationship, no differences were found in terms of moral disengagement strategies in infidelity. It is believed that the findings of this study will contribute to a better understanding of the mechanisms through which individuals morally justify infidelity, a behavior that often undermines romantic relationships and family systems
