Resident appear as a factor that is both affected by the tourism development in a region and affects this development process. While the positive perceptions of the local people towards tourism give rise to positive attitudes towards tourism development and tourists, negative perceptions bring along negative attitudes. It has been tried to be explained with various theories such as social change theory, integrated threat theory, etc. In this study, place identity and community loyalty approaches are taken as basis. In this study, developed on the basis of identity theory, suggest that the individual has an impact on the behavior of identity components. From this point of view, whether tourism activities developing in a region are compatible with the identity of the individuals living in that region and the effect of this situation on the perceptions and attitudes towards tourism is an issue to be examined. From this point of view, the aim of the research is to reveal the effect of local people's place identity and commitment to the community on sustainable tourism attitude. Data were collected from 500 people living in Seferihisar and identified by convenience sampling using the survey technique. Data collection was carried out in May-June 2019 by face-to-face interviews. After the analyzes, it has been determined that the local people's commitment to the place identity and community has a significant effect on their attitudes towards sustainable tourism. It is recommended that the tourism activities developing in the region be carried out with practices that support or do not harm the local people's place identity and their loyalty to the community.
