Studies submitted to Sinop University Journal of Sport Research must be prepared in accordance with the following author guidelines and publication principles:
General Principles
- Studies submitted to the journal must not have been published elsewhere previously and must not be under evaluation in another journal simultaneously.
- Studies previously presented as papers at congresses, symposia, workshops, or scientific meetings may be taken into evaluation provided that the name, date, and venue of the event are specified. The responsibility in this matter belongs entirely to the authors.
- In article submissions, the overall similarity index must not exceed 20%.
- Article submission is carried out exclusively through the DergiPark system. All application and evaluation processes are conducted electronically.
- Authors must fill out and upload the Copyright Transfer Form to the system during article submission.
- Studies submitted to the journal are primarily subjected to a preliminary evaluation by the editorial board in terms of formatting/writing guidelines and scope. Studies that do not comply with the rules may be returned to the author for revision.
- Studies that pass the preliminary evaluation are evaluated by at least two reviewers through a double-blind peer-review system.
- According to the reviewer reports, revision may be requested for the article, or it may be accepted or rejected. The final decision regarding the publication of the article is made by the editorial board.
Article Types
The journal may publish the following types of studies:
- Original research articles
- Review articles
Article Length
- For research and review articles, it is recommended that the text length does not exceed 10,000 words.
Article Structure
An article must include the following sections:
- Title
- Turkish Öz (Abstract)
- Anahtar Kelimeler (Keywords)
- Abstract
- Keywords
- Introduction (Giriş)
- Method (Yöntem)
- Findings (Bulgular)
- Discussion (Tartışma)
- Conclusion (Sonuç)
- References (Kaynakça)
- At the beginning of the article, there must be an abstract not exceeding 250 words in both Turkish and English.
- A maximum of 5 keywords must be placed below the abstracts.
Page Layout and Formatting
The article text must be prepared in accordance with the following formatting specifications:
- The font type must be Times New Roman.
- The main text must be written in 12 pt with 1.0 line spacing.
- The Öz, Abstract, and References sections must be written in 12 pt with single line spacing.
- The first line of paragraphs must have a 1.25 cm indentation.
- Page margins must be adjusted to 2.5 cm.
Title and Keywords
- In both Turkish and English titles, the first letter of each word must be capitalized.
- Turkish and English keywords must consist of a maximum of 5 words.
Tables and Figures
- Tables, figures, graphs, and images must be placed in appropriate places within the text.
- Each table and figure must be given a sequence number.
- Example: Table 1. Demographic Characteristics of Participants
- Table and figure captions must be written in 12 pt.
- Table captions must be placed above the table, while figure captions must be placed below the figure.
Quotations
- Direct quotations made within the text must be given in quotation marks.
- Quotations exceeding three lines must be written as a block quotation with the following formatting:
- 12 pt
- Italic
- 1.25 cm left indentation
Citation and References
The APA (7th edition) style is used as the reference citation system in the Sinop University Journal of Sport Research.
- In-text citations must be formatted in accordance with APA 7 rules.
- The references list must only include studies cited within the text.
- References must be arranged in alphabetical order.
Anonymous Peer Review (Double-Blind Review)
In order to ensure the impartiality of the reviewer evaluation process, no information that could reveal the identity of the authors should be included within the article text.
Language and Writing Rules
- In Turkish articles, the writing and spelling rules of the Turkish Language Association (TDK) must be taken as a basis.
- Care must be taken to use an academic and clear language in the article texts.
Author Responsibility
The scientific content of the article, the accuracy of the sources used, and compliance with ethical principles are entirely the responsibility of the authors.
Archiving
Digital archiving processes of the journal are carried out through the LOCKSS system used within the DergiPark infrastructure.
