An Examination of the Activity Stations in the 5th Grade Science Textbook
Öz
This study aims to examine the activity stations within the 5th-grade science textbook prepared in accordance with the "Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Modeli" curriculum introduced in 2024. The research focuses on the distribution of these activities across units, their alignment with learning outcomes, material accessibility, safety precautions, and digital content integration. The study utilized the document analysis technique, a qualitative research method, to analyze 72 activity stations found in the textbook. Data were interpreted using descriptive analysis. The results indicate that the activities are fully aligned with the curriculum's learning outcomes, promoting active learning. While the distribution across units varies, the majority of materials required are easily accessible and pose low safety risks, with adequate warnings provided for specific experiments. However, the study found that digital technology integration is limited, as only 16.6% of the stations include QR code support. Consequently, based on these findings, it is suggested that future textbook designs should increase the prevalence of digital content to foster hybrid learning environments and further develop students' digital skills alongside scientific inquiry.
