CALL FOR PAPERS

Deadline Submissions 31st January, 2021

You are cordially invited to submit your research papers for the first issue of the Turkish Journal of Diaspora Studies (TJDS). TJDS aims to provide a medium for the publication of original papers covering the entire span of diaspora and migration studies. The editors are particularly eager to publish new and critical works regarding current developments in research and analysis on the subject topics. The first issue of the journal will be published in March 2021.

Today, we are living in a more than ever globalized world, where the fastest communication and transportation opportunities are omnipresent. This situation allows information, goods, and people to move freely and quickly between territories that are located very distant from each other. As a part of the modern nation-state system, millions of people have moved from one place to another for different economic, social, political, or environmental reasons. This reality made states either a receiving or sending country, as well as both. People, who migrated from one country to another, are acknowledged as the main subject in both countries. Hence, the concept of diaspora in its wider definition provides a framework to approach issues of transnational mobility and human geopolitics. Recently, the term has expanded to include even wider human mobility issues from refugee situations to extraterritorial representations. The scholarly quest to explore diaspora issues of our age is necessary. In the 21st century, issues related to diasporas are attracting more scholars, experts, and also practitioners.

In the light of developments mentioned in the field, the first issue of TJDS is interested in research papers that highlight diaspora and migration-related topics. Topics to be discussed in this issue include (but are not limited to) the following:

Diaspora in modern times
Diaspora and its borders, theories, and practices
Diaspora engagement policies
Diaspora and assimilation policies
Diaspora and geopolitics
Migration and mobility
Diaspora and nation-states
Diaspora and imaginations
Turkish diaspora and other diasporas

The Turkish Journal of Diaspora Studies is a biannual, open access, and peer-reviewed journal, published by the Migration Research Foundation, in Ankara, Turkey. We warmly welcome both English and Turkish language research work.

Sincerely Yours,
TJDS Editorial Board
